Brutal swarm of filthy, money dripping tourists in one of the most beautiful spots around, or um, something better?

A new place to visit when I return! Or not? Hamish was clear about Invercargill in particular being a shithole...

i have never been to queenstown. i have no desire to go there. wanaka is bad enough (sightly, expensive, over-run with rich people), and i used to live real close to that town.

I like Wanaka alot. I spent New Year at Hawea, which was, er, interesting as well.

OCP (OCP), Monday, 6 January 2003 05:22 (twenty-three years ago)

cromwell was better without the lake.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 6 January 2003 07:05 (twenty-three years ago)

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 6 January 2003 07:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I found Wanaka a yucky yuppie filled shithole so I would probably hate Qtown - haven't been to Q since I was about 4 (people on the boat played "Puff the Magic Dragon" at my sister's request, I felt envious and bitter because it was the song she'd claimed as her favourite thereby having some kind of special rights over it). By the way (prob a dumb place to put this but) does anyone who reads this livein Wellington??????????????????????????????????????

"Ours in now the "rootlessness, isolation, spiritual impoverishment" of a free-market satrap rather than that of a distant dominion . . . I believe the memory many of us have is still the memory of an absence regardless of our ethnic origins."

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 6 January 2003 19:13 (twenty-three years ago)

ha ha "rootlessness"

dz, Monday, 6 January 2003 20:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Undoubtedly.

Ha ha wanaka, the fun we had saying that wrong.

Queenstown is horrid. There didn't even seem to be anywhere nice to go out in the evening and it was supposed to be party central. I think we ended up on a ship or something. The dry luge run was fun though.

It's an oasis of Anywhere in the middle of yr Grate Southern whatevah. Not even Auckland gets anywhere close to the alien nature of it, brrrr.
(haha can I talk about upperclass wankers@Kn*x College & their skiing weekends?)
