"the Jesus year": classic or dud?

I turn 33 today. My friend Sharon calls it "the Jesus year": "you do your best work, but you get crucified for it." For those who've been there, C or D?

That's so weird! Cuz that sums up my 33rd year on this earth (which I'm about 1/3 way thru) exactly! Then again, I live in England, where anybody who does ANY work gets crucified automatically

it's true.

Douglas, this isn't such an unusual thought. All you need is a lapsed Catholic friend with the initials JC and a fatalistic view of life. Or a friend who makes (un?)pop records and has an intermittent Messiah complex. I've got both and have been working the Jesus year thing for at least a decade (when the latter turned 33) and with especial reference to popmuzik, the 33 and 1/3 concept is a load of fun to mess with.

How does anyone expect me to remember that far back? I hit the next multiple of 11 this year!

PS - Happy Birthday Douglas!

Douglas, many happy turn-ons on 33ยจรท
(and then 45! (and 78!))

don't worry 'bout the thirties too much
the 4ties are slightly more tricky tho'

Happy Birthday Douglas!! I've always been told that its 35 is the year of your best work not 33. From reading your writing and checking out your record label, I think your "jesus year" is gonna be a doozy :)
In other 33 tall tales, I just learned that the reason the number 33 is on Rolling Rock Beer was because on the intital drawings 33 was placed as a note to let the designer know that the description for the package would be 33 words. The printers however just placed the number 33 on the package instead.

i'll tell ya after 3/20/03 (when i turn 33).

There aren't 20 months in a year. More proof that the British way of writing dates is best: with the leading zero, that's 20-03-2003.

hip hip hooray for Douglas! On his magical 33rd magical birthing day!

I'll answer this question in 2009.

I'm not sure you should trust someone with a name like Sharon to talk about Jesus

The sponge full o' vinegar was ok; but the crown of thorns kind of itches.
