Weirdest random abuse

I just got an email (no doubt because of something I wrote on ILX)saying "Oh yeah well you probably like conservative mutherfuckas!!!" -- and that's all it said. And the email was fake so I couldn't even ask the person what the hell they were talking about. Anyone else ever get any weird emails like this?

Nicole (Nicole), Saturday, 4 January 2003 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

No "Re:" title even? I would usually follow up on what they say in a deliberately confounding way. Altho if the person is reading this thread you doin wd seem hella lame obviously.

And no, I've never received random abuse.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Sunday, 5 January 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I get stuff like that too. The other day, someone emailed me, "FUCK YOU DIE DIE, for what you said about him. Fuck you Ally! Indiana Jones and Jaws!" so I can only assume it was about Speilburg or something (PS Catch Me If You Can sucks), so I replied like, what are you talking about, and the reply was, "I'm sorry, my kid used my email account, I'm sorry".

This was about my adult story site.

comments = Your page is scary. It disturbs [SOME BOZO] very deeply that you have made such a page. Are you cute? Would you like to go out sometime? Your page makes [SOME BOZO] think you are crazy. Crazy girls are good in bed. I hope you are not a lesbian. [SOME BOZO] likes lesbians, but they do not want to have sex with [SOME BOZO]. Maybe you will be the first lesbian to have sex with [SOME BOZO]? [SOME BOZO] would like that!

No "Re:" title even?

The subject line was "Oh ya" which doesn't exactly explain anything. I was just curious to know what I wrote that inspired the insult.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 5 January 2003 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

This is just a wild guess, but: did you say bad things about popular rap?

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Sunday, 5 January 2003 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, might have done. If I did it was so long ago I can't even remember what it was. But I really don't think I could put it down to a fan of any particular thing based on the complete non-specificity of the email.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 5 January 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

do you like conservative muthafuckas?

Queen G (Queeng), Sunday, 5 January 2003 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I started a thread about annoying cartoon characters once, and someone emailed me about six months later to say that they found Popeye's constant mumbling very annoying.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 5 January 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

"With response to recent entry at your 1471 site. So only people called Julian or Jamie own the album do they.

My name is Julian and actually do own the album. Have you got a problem with that. If so reply and we can arrange for a deeper discussion....and I can kick your arse.

What sort of name is Gareth anyway.

I will leave you on that note.If you live anywhere near Kings Lynn
beware I am not far away."

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 5 January 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I made some negative comments about third-rate comic writing hack Gerry Conway, then months later got an email starting something like "What do you know aboout it anyway?" leaving me puzzled for a few moments. Oddly, the same person revived the thread with a virtually identical message, but that was a few months later again.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 5 January 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i got (only!) a couple of conspicuous "messages" back in my record-reviewing days, though none of them were exactly "random" and they weren't "e-mailed" either --it was 6-7 years ago, had no access to the web then anyway -- anyway, after writing an unfriendly piece (in civilised tho' ridiculing manner) of a shitty cassette of one of my (small) hometown's pub bands, the elderly 'leader' of said pubsters -- who, as i later learned, was at his day job a boss at some sort of construction company -- had different persons tell me that he'll have me killed for sure...
...didn't happen, heh

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 5 January 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i got an email at my work asking in 3 languages if i had the lyrics to klaus nomi songs! and there was no name or anything.

anyway, if this person is reading this, no I haven't.

erik, Sunday, 5 January 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone told the suggestions box at my last retail job that I should be sacked which led to GREAT WAVES OF PARANOIA on my part because I needed the money and thought I might actually get fired (even though it was clearly a college classmate doing a prank).

I've always had a very combative approach to abusive people which I suppose makes me an attractive target, combined with the usual risk factors which come with being a reasonably well-known writer.

suzy (suzy), Sunday, 5 January 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth that one is hilarious, it's like that Simpsons "yes I'm Hugh Jass".

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 5 January 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Knowing Nicole's politics, her liking conservative muthafuckas = day's best hilarity.

Once or twice I've gotten something deeply random, but I've always gotten something deeply random over the years. Strange phone calls asking if I'm gay (this was back at UCLA), my name constantly being ripped off my door in the dorms, etc. But usually it's pointed, like the two RATM fans back in 1993 who claimed I needed a 'bullet to the head' via private mail. Charming.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 5 January 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned - I fell asleep whilst standing up = grebt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I do like you, of course I do.

dwh (dwh), Sunday, 5 January 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I once got a mail from somebody I can't remember which simply said:

"You are a fucking freak mate."

And that was it.

Chriddof (Chriddof), Sunday, 5 January 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I just got an email from someone in Brazil asking if they could sell my products in their stores because ther eisn't a good line of sports products in Brazil. I don't know why they think I sell sports products, but I'm game.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 6 January 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i got spam today telling me all abt burning my own dvds: the random-generated email name was pus@[etc]

mark s (mark s), Monday, 6 January 2003 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a bit off topic, but I got some classic porn spam the other day from "Jenifer Blopez".

Kim (Kim), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:18 (twenty-two years ago)

there was a one-month period about 3 years ago when i kept getting weird messages on my answering machine, from some dude who sounded like a Hispanic Andrew WK, screaming shit in Spanish. stopped just as suddenly as it started, and never figured out what the fuck was going on.

i also got cranked by a friend of an l-school friend, claiming she was from the Attorney Disciplinary Committee of the New York State Appellate Division and that i was under investigation for allegedly co-mingling funds (an automatic "you get disbarred" card if yer a lawyer). i was scared shitless, till i remembered that i've never done that and i'm no position to co-mingle funds anyway.

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Like they'd be allowed to leave you that kind of message (unprofessional/indiscreet/delete as appropriate) as opposed to sending a letter? Durrr, I thought lawyers were smart.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

"are you jewish?" (asking about our web pages, "who is funding this?"); "fuck you fags in your crappy little countries putting down the USA bla bla bla" sort of thing but that's not that weird i guess.

dz, Monday, 6 January 2003 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Durrr, I thought lawyers were smart.

look at one of my typical ILX posts, and be forever disabused of that notion :-p

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

What's stupid about hating Republicans as a full-time hobby?

suzy (suzy), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

you thought lawyers were smart, after the evidence we've both experienced...

masonicboom, Monday, 6 January 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Since Julian in King's Lynne is apparently itching to kick someone's arse for the flimsiest of excuses he should kick the arse of Justyn's abuser (and possibly Justyn) for the Popeye comment. Popeye's mumbling is without question the key to his greatness, and its absence is the reason why Popeye's later features sucked ass. I mean arse.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I thought Tad was smart but his crank-caller was just fuckin' thtoopid. And as to our Shared Lawyer Experience, I had successfully done Stalinist purge on that part of my memory banks.

Ooh Tracer I got your message but my machine is Read Only if you've been following the katesuzyednick Xmastime soap opera.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

katesuzyednick sounds like a terrifying hivemind...

masonicboom, Monday, 6 January 2003 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't usually watch TV in the daytime, sorry --

(Can you FEEL the loathe??)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 6 January 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

("katesuzyednick" -- is "suzy" a verb there?)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 6 January 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ew! I certainly hope not!

Haven't answered mail because a) out of town until 2nd and b) my comp keyboard is dead and Key Caps won't let me do passwords into the programme (see cut'n'paste Kate) and d) working on art thing. Have opened mail on house server so send again, will do best to help.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 6 January 2003 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

eeeeeeuuuuuuwwwwwww

masonicboom, Monday, 6 January 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)
