Temperature: -24 deg C (that's -11 deg F, conversion fans)

Whoah. I want summer. How's the temp where you are?

OleM (OleM), Monday, 6 January 2003 07:29 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry about this, but right now (2:27AM local time) it is, get ready:

71 deg F (!) = 22 deg C

the high tomorrow is expected to be 84F/28C
this is due to Santa Ana winds from inland (as opposed to cold winds from offshore)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 6 January 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, the above refers to Los Angeles, CA.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 6 January 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Monday, 6 January 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you have Central Heating in Holland?

baggy (baggy), Monday, 6 January 2003 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 6 January 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

It was nice and cold today, a beautiful day. All the germs died.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 6 January 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

its colder than a witches tit here in massachusetts.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 6 January 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ann Arbor at 1:25pm EST = 26 deg F (-3 deg C) with 30 mph (50 kph) wind gusts making it very very cold! Although the sun is out and there's light flurries which is quite pretty.

Aaron W, Monday, 6 January 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

As heard on XFM (London) this morning: "4 deg. C, with chance of rain..."

In lay terms: this means you can't feel your feet, even through 2 pairs of socks. Never mind how cold the nights are.....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 6 January 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

You're all a bunch of wimps. Stockholm is -20 degrees Celsius.

Hanna (Hanna), Monday, 6 January 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

It was about -10 last night, after years on the coast its nice to have warm weather and low winds like this.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 6 January 2003 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

-3.5 degrees Celsius here in Winnipeg. Supposed to be +6 tomorrow. I love El Ninos, but I'll never be able to skate on the river this winter.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 6 January 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

It's about -8 Celsius here in Detroit. Bleak, grey and damn chilly.

webcrack (music=crack), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It ended up being +8. Not supposed to last for more than a couple of days, though. Lots of people barbequing tonight.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Bleak, grey and damn chilly.

You forgot "windy as fuck!"

Aaron W, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
Argh. Okay, it's currently 10 degrees F (-12 C) with a wind chill of -7F (-22 C) and snowy in Ann Arbor. And this is supposed to be the HIGH for the day.

I sure do love that face and eyeballs starting to freeze feeling. Is it spring yet? No? Damn.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Hide in the AMG CD vault for warmth.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes it fucking is.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I found a thermometer in the back garden today, according to it the English NW is currently 8 degrees C, so not too bad, really.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

This morning it was -4ºF (-20ºC) in Chicago. Wind chill of -25ºF (-32ºC). It's 72ºF (22ºC) in my office.

No One (SiggyBaby), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it's really fucking cold out today. It's kind of fun if you're a bad-weather veteran, though - you get to call everyone else a wimp.

Kerry (dymaxia), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It's so cold school got canceled!

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

That rocks Maria!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

lucky!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but i'm spending the entire day finishing a project i procrastinated on anyway so it's not that fun. (at least i won't have to do it all at night, i guess.)

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

When I moved to New Orleans in 1997, they told me "Yeah, it doesn't get cold, exactly, in the winter, but it'll FEEL cold. All that wind coming off the water, all the moisture in the air -- you'll swear it's twenty degrees colder than it is." Didn't believe em. Went through a couple of winters wearing nothing warmer than shorts.

This year, it's dropped near freezing repeatedly, but yeah, with that wind coming off the water and that humidity, it feels like it's 15 F out. Dropping off movies today, a block away, I was as cold as I've been in six years, including Christmases spent in New Hampshire. This is why I -left- New England, dammit.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 24 January 2003 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaron, the cold is supposed to last for another week at least! Aren't we lucky?

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 24 January 2003 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It's around 40 F here in South Florida, meaning 10-20 in Florida degrees.

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Friday, 24 January 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Amateurist (amateurist), Friday, 24 January 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, someone posted that information already. I would like to assert that it, does, indeed feel Like -4°F.

Amateurist (amateurist), Friday, 24 January 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It's between 7 and 11 C here in Seattle, night to day, for about the past month and probably the next couple of months. Pretty mild.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 24 January 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I know, I am so missing the mild Seattle weather right now! Brrrr....

Jen (nstop), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

So cold here in Florida that I just found two large (2+ inches in length) frogs in my toilet bowl - probably came through the pipes. But I can't put them outside 'cause it's too cold and they'll freeze before having a chance to burrow into the ground. And if they stay inside they will severely dehydrate and die. My solution? I've put them into my bath tub, added water to one end (the base of the tub is slightly angled toward the drain), arranged some branches, plants, and rocks for them to climb over, and figure that they'll be visitors until the weather warms again. (And I'll just have to shower.)

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 24 January 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It got below zero degrees Farenheit here in Georgia.. I don't think we've seen THAT in a while.

this can only be a sign of GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!!!!11

Curtis Stephens, Saturday, 25 January 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

It is snowing heavily in NY today. The snow outside my window is snowing Up!

felicity (felicity), Friday, 7 February 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

You're lucky. Here in Winnipeg we've had almost no snow this winter (compared to normal) which means we might have drought this summer. It is cold as a sonofabitch here, though (-15 F tonight).

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 February 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Laura, do you still have the frogs?

That Girl (thatgirl), Sunday, 9 February 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Seattle... highs around 50F, lows in the mid 30sF.. (that's 1C to 10C). Not really, uh, too surprising or that bad. Actually, it's been kinda dry the past week, and will be next week. My lips are chapped to all hell.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 9 February 2003 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Portland has been shockingly similar to Seattle, except not as fluently translated into Celsuis.

Chris P (Chris P), Sunday, 9 February 2003 04:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Just to be really mean, I thought I'd interject and say that the other week, Melbourne had a 44 deg. day. Celcius.

No, it wasn't good.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 9 February 2003 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I just realized that I could use my air conditioner as a heater. I have it set to 79 degrees. Hopefully it won't short out!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 9 February 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 November 2024 19:09 (ten months ago)

it's wet, wild & windy but my window thermometer is showing 60*F, so I guess it's not actually that cold

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 20 November 2024 19:16 (ten months ago)

if it's this cold the least it could do is snow and stop me going to work

bad love's all you'll get from me (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 20 November 2024 19:18 (ten months ago)

have had the central heating on for over 7 hours today. Keeping reasonably warm at home never used to feel so decadent + agitating back in the normal days.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Wednesday, 20 November 2024 19:25 (ten months ago)

Hate this. I didn't use to be a big Summer guy but now I dream of spending my winters South of the Equator.

Daniel_Rf, Wednesday, 20 November 2024 20:24 (ten months ago)

It's cold for London, put it that way. Anyway, at last I can break out the winter wardrobe, hurrah!

if you like this you might like my brothers music. his name is Stu Morr (Tom D.), Wednesday, 20 November 2024 21:01 (ten months ago)

It lightly snowed here today (brief accumulation on the grass, slick streets but nothing else on the roads) and the high was expected to reach 30 F, so it was pretty chilly, but not as cold as it could be this time of year.

We Live as We Dee, Alone (deethelurker), Wednesday, 20 November 2024 22:50 (ten months ago)

It snowed heavily in Oxford for an hour yesterday morning. It was beautiful to sit in bed and watch through the window. It melted quickly, which seemed ideal. I've got a drive north ahead (to see friends/a gig) and Britain isn't really set up for *weather*.

djh, Wednesday, 20 November 2024 23:02 (ten months ago)

In the mid-40s Farenheit. it's been a bit chillier than what's average for mid-November in Portland. It's the never-ending damp and heavy overcast that makes it feel worse than it is. Not complaining, though. That part is perfectly average for mid-November here.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Wednesday, 20 November 2024 23:05 (ten months ago)

In LA this weekend, AM temps were in the '40s. Here, there are currently flurries.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 21 November 2024 00:03 (ten months ago)

I was in LA last weekend, it was gorgeous

Currently snowing like a mofo in southern England. Not settling though.

I would prefer not to. (Chinaski), Thursday, 21 November 2024 10:09 (ten months ago)

Currently snowing like a mofo in the north Chicago area. Sticking too, for now.

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 21 November 2024 15:16 (ten months ago)

A bone-chilling 55 degrees in South Florida tonight.

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 21 November 2024 15:27 (ten months ago)

Normally I hate to say "I told you so", but not in this case. I'm very happy to say to all of those people who were SO HAPPY about our 80 degree days in October, "I TOLD YOU SO, WE GOT SCREWED OUT OF A REAL FALL AGAIN".

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 21 November 2024 16:44 (ten months ago)

Fifty degrees in New England. Seasonal! Finally getting some rain after a bone-dry stretch.

henry s, Thursday, 21 November 2024 16:48 (ten months ago)

I've been checking my weather app since last night, and it has consistently displayed a high/low range in the 40s for today, buuuuuuut has also been displaying a temp of 30-31 all morning long (and a realfeel of fuckin' 19, which I could've guessed as I made my inappropriately-dressed way to work). They finally updated the expected snow accumulation from 0.0 inches to 0.1. There has to be at least 3-4 inches of snow on the ground right now with no sign of the snowfall abating. Just threw my phone straight in the trash, btw. An overreaction, perhaps, but it felt right.

Great-Tasting Burger Perceptions (Old Lunch), Thursday, 21 November 2024 16:51 (ten months ago)

Ha, yeah, an app I use says to expect 1 to 2 inches in total all day, but we're already close to double that and the app also says to expect 4-5 more hours of "heavy snow". Get yer shit together folks.

Maxmillion D. Boosted (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 21 November 2024 16:59 (ten months ago)

Yeah, I just had to drive back from Naperville in almost whiteout conditions! And now I have to shovel. Or at least I should.
