Next Saturday (the Eleventh) come and help me get over the fact that I will be thrity at the Old Blue Lion on Gray's Inn road. It's a nice boozer with a great old-school, quip making landlord who is very friendly. And serves cheapish booze. And what's better is that the pub, from seven thirty til Eleven will be MINE all MINE ha ha ha

There will be no random punters just me and my chums.

Come along, do.

apologies for poor grammar and style there, I have a cold.

chris (chris), Monday, 6 January 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, are you sorted for music?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, they have an "eclectic" juker. and a pool table, and good bitter. no dart board though.

chris (chris), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

'eclectic jukebox'

Chris is getting there early and putting the first couple of hours in, so he doesn't have to listen to anything he hates until he's too pissed to care

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

A wind-up one would be better.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

what? with only the Jerky boys and "hilarious" recordings of Steve Penks' show on it?

chris (chris), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

If you say so, Cabbage: it's your party after all.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

we were so relieved when the landlord said "we need you to spend 500 pounds over the bar"

I think that should be manageable.

chris (chris), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, got your text, but had no credit to reply. Will be there helping to spend £500 at the bar. (Have been paid now, so phone credit, drinks etc will be forthcoming.)

Anna (Anna), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there, starting the year of thirties as I mean to continue.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 6 January 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Woo! Bouzing will surely happen.

Eep, hitting the old quarter-century this year, not sure if it's a real landmark or not.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 6 January 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

If my student loan was paid this week than I'll be there I guess.

(DId you get my email Anna?)

Graham (graham), Monday, 6 January 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Happy Birthday dude, shame I can't be there but you know the story. I will be in London again eventually.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 6 January 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, can you confirm the pub is just called the Blue Lion, at 133 Grays Inn Road? Here's a map for those who might need one.

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 6 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the feller! I could have sworn it was the old blue lion but that one's in the right place, opposite the ITN building

chris (chris), Monday, 6 January 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there, very probably. Happy birthday Chris, and congratulations for launching this special year of thirtieths.

Since I had to dig this out to remind myself where and when, I may as well usefully revive it for others.
