I just had an impulse buy

I just bought a Juno 106 off of Ebay for $350. I know they're fantastic keyboards (my best friend has a bunch and I love them) and it's a great price, but... it was a total impulse. I saw the auction was about to end and I went for it. What's da matter with me??

That is why one of my resolutions is to try and stay away from ebay...I tend to be very skin-flintish and overly cautious about purchasing anything if I'm in an actual store, but if I'm on ebay I go overboard with impulse purchases on all sorts of crazy crap. For example, I keep buying vinyl even though my turntable is barely working.

Because obviously I need all Scott vinyl ever even though I have all of the songs on cd...with thinking like this I deserve to be poor.

Scott Walker? Cuz yeah you need him on vinyl to look at the nice, larger pictures!

It's like the second thing I've ever bought on Ebay... I was searching for keyboards and and then all of a sudden... blammo! I have one.

Oh well. Next will be a sampler and a MIDI controller but that will be a bit more thought out (I hope!). At least I'm gonna have some cool equipment when this is all said and done.

is the juno the one beltram made the mentasm noise on?

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm 90% sure yes... I think it's called "Hoover" on the Juno. I mean, they're fantastic analog/MIDI keyboards that are really flexible. I'm just not sure, if I would've paused & reflected, if I would've bought it. Ah well!!

eBay would be the death of me. I have purposely avoided it, and good thing too.

The sad thing is, even though it could be said that I am a sad Scott groupie I have never even cared for his looks much. It's just like this obsessive-compulsive urge to have a complete collection. I do this with other bands too, but probably not as bad.

Who needs looks? It's all about that one close up of his eye. Or something.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 06:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but most of his album covers are of him.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the way my album covers would be.

Granted it's only the '60s albums that he looks amazing, but man... he looks grebt:

I hope all the threads I start on ILX will turn into Scott Walker threads!!

Aaron W, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom would kill me. But I could find a way...

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth, can I borrow your Juno? I really really really need a keyboard for this gig on the 21st and I can't even find a bloody casiotone at this point... I had a Juno 6 when I was a teenager, but some awful metalheads blackmailed me into giving it to them. (don't ask.) oh, my poor wonderful analogue synth which used to make the most wonderful spacenoises in the entire world, and those awful metalheads only ever used it to make crap Rush noises with. Waaaahhhh!!!

(Oh, Ed just said he would help find me a synth...)

Kate, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

kate, the juno106 is not in london (it also only works intermittently)

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Please go and buy the Sigur Ros album I'm selling on ebay's UK site - it's my first time and I need a success ;)

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

How much do you reckon I'd get for an SH-09 if I were selling by the way, for those in the know?

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

The suggested prices found at http://www.vintagesynth.org/roland/sh09.shtml tend to be pretty OTM (they say $350).

And someone just bought one for $300 off Ebay...

My first impulse was to say "I'll buy it." Bad Aaron, bad.
