Capuccino - Suck or Sip?

Mmmmmmm, froth. Yum.

But Suzy and Ed laugh at the way that I suck all of the foam off the top of the coffee before drinking it (and especially at the noises this makes.)

Do you suck all the foam off your coffee and then drink it, or do you drink the coffee and foam at once?

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

first i sculpt the froth a bit with a spoon. then i eat the top layer of froth that has the chocolate-powdery bits on it. then i drink the rest with the coffee.

destroy: cappuccinos that are *all* froth.

Does it make you sound like Alberto Frog from Bod finishing off a straaaaawberry milkshake? If so, then your sucking = classic, definitely.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 11:10 (twenty-three years ago)

No, it's more rude than that, more orally fixated neurotic let loose in a Freudian whorehouse sort of felching sound.

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:13 (twenty-three years ago)

If the cappuccino was the classic 80s drink, and the café latte was its 90s successor, what should we all be drinking now?

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Cafe even latter.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Soyaccino innit.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:41 (twenty-three years ago)

How many P's *ARE* there in cappuccino? (Dan, lay off...)

OK, that is the last time I ask Suzy for spelling advice. I *ASKED* her if it had 2 P's or 1, because I *KNOW* that my spelling is crap, and she said 1. I would have said 2, but I deferred to her.

SO I JUST WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW, IF THERE ARE SPELLING ERRORS, IT IS SUZY, NOT ME BEING DUMB!!! Thank you.

(Yes, I am cranky as fuck. Coffee does not make up for lack of sleep and I'm biting any and all heads off in my near vicinity. And I'm trying to avoid writing a fucking article...)

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe capuccino with one p is the latest thing in suzy's style lab and is thus the answer to my question.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I already answered your question above your penis.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, I meant you penis.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

That's enough.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

N, you killed my thread.

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't! I just perverted it.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, my cappuccino hadn't kicked in yet and I was thinking of '60s actress Capucine. But at least I don't write 'expresso' - caught Nick doing that the other day and really the man should know better.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:52 (twenty-three years ago)

actually, you know, I think that Expresso might actually be an American variant spelling, because I have seen it too often, especially in NYC, for it to be a pure misspelling.

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

cappuccino = classic

Paul Weller (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Cappuccino Kid = Dud.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:56 (twenty-three years ago)

MUST you mention the putative figure behind THE WORST LINER NOTES EVER.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Why oh why must my fellow Americans call it "eXpresso"? Why oh why does it piss me off so much to hear it spoken aloud, to see it actually printed as such on menus?

Kate's second post kinda turned me on. Yowza.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Expresso and Cappucino are two different things, aren't they. Expresso comes in those little cups.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate is complaining about the x in the spelling of expresso, Chris.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Cappuccino consists of espresso + foamed milk, and is often served in a big cup (ie, the "excuse me miss, I believe I ordered the LARGE cappuccino" line from So I Married an Axe Murderer).

Espresso consists of espresso, and is served in a little tiny cup.

And why on Earth did anyone even mention "penis" in this thread?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Where do you think the froth on you cappuccino comes from?

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:38 (twenty-three years ago)

SUZY WAS COMPLAINING, NOT ME. WE ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON, READ THE BLOODY POSTS MORE CAREFULLY, YOU PENIS!!! AAARRRRGGHHH!!!

Nickalicious, you just get turned on by everything I post. :-P

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I prefer Chai Tea.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry Kate.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I usually drink it so fast that its more of a chug then a suck or sip. Coffee for enjoyment, capuccino or expresso for an immediate burst of caffeine goodness

brg30 (brg30), Thursday, 9 January 2003 00:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Espresso=Essence, I think, in Italian. The essence of the coffee extracted by forcing a long burst of boiling, high pressured steam through it.

OCP (OCP), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Sip, incidentally (!)

OCP (OCP), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:26 (twenty-three years ago)

cappucino=suck suck suck.

no me gusta.
