Tea In a Pot vs Tean In A Mug

Apparently I'm 'too english' to start this thread, but I'm going to.

I'm am obviously a tea in a pot man because the leaves can swim free, it tastes better and you get less scum with hard london water. Leaves are also way cheaper than bags.

We even fought over who was going to get to start this thread...

I had an ex-boyfriend who used to complain endlessly about me serving him tea brewed in a mug, claiming that tea brewed in a pot was better. At the time, I told him that it was nonsense, there was no difference, and by the way, the Eagles suck.

However, I have no seen the error of my ways. Yes, they do taste different. However, tea brewed in a mug is stronger, it is less "bitty" (I hate tea debris at the bottom of my mug) and it is just yummier.

Oh, and I've grown to quite like some Eagles songs, too. Though I never grew to like G*ldr*sh.

by the way, what's tean?

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

it's just a question of how much you can be arsed to wash up, is all.

katie (katie), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Bags do not make a horrible fucking mess. Bags also allow you to make a cup of pure tannin without straining.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Tea in pot better, no difference in taste between bags and leaves. Yorkshire water obligatory, naturally.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

bags make a horrible mess when you leave them all over the chopping board... speaking of which...

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Put them in the bin then!

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Right Rick i am never making you a cup of tea again unless you go to Yorkshire and BRING SOME WATER BACK!

katie (katie), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

HA ha

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

no, that was a HINT for either Ed or Suzy to clean up and move the MEATY chopping board - which I will not touch - off the counter. But then again, I think they're about to make burgers or something awful. And Suzy wonders why I make chemical warfare with the onions and spices when I cook - it's to counteract the stink of burning flesh.

Anyway, erm, Ed has just made freeleaf tea in a pot so we shall see.

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Tea in pot = cup and a half of tea usually - so for you poor addicted foxs get more. Plus the ceremonius aspect as rightly celebrated by the Japanese.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

My tea comes in a plastic cup from the machine in the corner......
two years and it still tastes like shit.

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

minna (minna), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmm, stink of burning flesh... I thought even veggos like to smell meat cookin'?

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

The smell of cooking flesh actually frequently makes me want to vomit. Really depends on the reason for giving up meat, I suppose...

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

And while I'm on the subject, making milk out of SOYA is far more against nature than eating our fellow sentient creatures. Filth.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Soy milk is an abomination, silky mouth-feel or no. Don't look at me on that one.

kate, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

"silky mouth-feel" reminds me a little to much of Janet Jackson's immortal "your silky-smooth feels so good against my lips, sugar" from "If".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you, Mr. Perry. My nightmares can begin.

How about if you have an electric kettle and you just pour the water into a cup wherein a tea bag is located?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(Haha drink soy milk is like sucking on a WANG!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose it's all in the matter of what the liquid container is shaped like.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett: MARKETTING GENIUS.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 9 January 2003 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Somehow this brave new world we're in just got a little weirder.
