For those coming from LA -- venture here for my location. If you scroll north a bit, you'll see the 405 turnoff onto Bristol, and from there it's a piece of cake. You can also take the 5 south to the 55 south if you like.
RSVP here if you like or e-mail me directly for further details. Feel free to bring anything you like! Good wine always appreciated, never has to be expensive so long as it is tasty. :-) I'll figure out the details of what will be on hand soon enough.

I would say via Cockfosters but that's the direct route to Dan.

Nicole is NO LONGER MY FRIEND. If only because said haircut would not look well on me. ;-) Besides, if I did pretend to be in said film, I'd be thrown in jail, and I don't have the MC skills to avoid anal rape in a 'hilarious' scene, see.
Hey, you're pretty close to the Mitsuwa Mart, too, aren't you?
Are you talking about what was formerly Yaohan? That's just a block up, yes.
Ned is making you pay to get in? That's a bit much.
Now there's an idea! No, Sean is just crazy enough to get a ticket down from SF for it. And it was only $77, so I suggest all Bay Area ILX types join him. ;-)

So, anyway, I look forward to my next OC adventure. I will resist the urge to sing "Baker Street".
― Arthur (Arthur), Saturday, 11 January 2003 17:38 (twenty-three years ago)
I would definitely do anything to be as good a singer as Robin Zander was between 1975 and 1980.
I will resist the urge to sing "Baker Street".
Eep! Well, you can hum the sax solo if you like.

OK, I'll stop.

Ned's having to throw a rent party already? Although if the California governor's cutting down the budget as much as that picture suggested...

Stranger has happened! And there could yet be something ominous -- there was a message yesterday from the UCI Executive Vice Chancellor about possibly looking into a 'reduction in time/pay' option to help with the budget crunch, hrm. That said, three workers have recently resigned or retired from Access, which is my department, and they're not planning on replacing them any time soon. My guess is that will be a partial (if not total) buffer to whatever happens, but I admit it's a concern. My freelance work may yet be more important than I realized! I'm just glad my credit card debt is essentially finis.
In the meantime, I am pursuing various career development things through the campus itself that could have wider applicability -- I had thought I might start looking for another job this year anyway, and while state bureaucracy is almost always a great buffer when the economy eats in terms of keeping steady employment, more options to hand could yet be important. We shall see. Reserves is busy and important enough that I doubt they could do much more in terms of paring us down, but then again, every individual team will have something similar to say, in the library or out of it.

HOWEVER, it was a blast meeting Ned, Arthur and Vic on Friday night. They all rule as their posts would suggest. They're all "it". Next time we get trashed and into some trouble.

And yes, ended up in LA Friday night and was able to meet up the Good People as indicated above, bless their hearts. Sean flew in yesterday for the party here, Chris Barrus and Karen aka Stripey came along and various other friends and relations stopped on in. Nothing wholly crazy in the evening but there was everything from good Peruvian food to soaking in the jacuzzi in a warm Santa Ana wind while sipping on a good Shiraz, num. Hurrah! Arthur, Sean and I killed a bit of time down here today, food, enjoying the weather on the beach and record shopping. Rock.
Next plan -- something with my birthday at the start of March. Those who could not make this party have to attend that one under pain of death. Uh, yeah.
