This is the thread where you ramble on about and post pictures of robots

I wanted to write about how the Tinman was the first real robot, and not that one out of Metropolis, but there's no way this can be done.

please?

A couple of years ago on the Isle of Wight, I met Kenny Baker - the dwarf guy who was inside the R2D2 suit in Star Wars. He has a house on the island. He was an arrogant twat.

Karel Capek first introduced the word robot, describing peasants doing subservient labor.

A couple of friends of mine have the greatest home - a converted school, with small rooms around the edge on two floors, but mostly dominated by one enormous double-height room. I mention this because as well as a huge artwork that is either a dinosaur made out of bits of metal or a robot dinosaur, there are shelves and cabinets all over the place with loads of toy robots of all sorts. You can browse for ages.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 10 January 2003 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to think the toy robots were all ones left behind by the schoolchildren before the building was converted.

From a session of "Ask Optimus Prime"...

Q: As a GoBot I often feel inferior to Transformers, and this sentiment transmits itself to my followers. I've tried therapy, support groups, self-help books...Nothing helps. Is there anything I can do to cure this depression and improve morale among my troops?
--Leader One

A: You can just bend over for my huge steel cock, you GoBot piece of shit. That's right, you're my little baby bitch, aren't you, Leader One? Why don't you “lead” my shlong into your mouth while Turbo licks my asshole? You cheap Taiwanese knockoffs make me sick! Stealing our airtime and merchandising money. You better hope that you never run into any Transformers, because if you do I'll personally take Megatron into my hand and pop a fat plasma cap into your tight little fighter plane ass. PUSSY!

(I can’t take credit, that came from here… http://www.squelched.com/detail.cfm?num=408869507 )

Damn you Sterling and your revisionist history!!

;)

Christopher Cprek (cprek), Friday, 10 January 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

so that sign means the ramp is both handicap and robot accessible?

Christopher Cprek (cprek), Friday, 10 January 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Strategically avoiding a Johnny 5 lawsuit.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 10 January 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

In that case Johnny 5 doesn't seem like a very capable combat robot.

All the enemy has to do to strategically place stairs.

Christopher Cprek (cprek), Friday, 10 January 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

*is* strategically place stairs.

Christopher Cprek (cprek), Friday, 10 January 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Possibly the only context in which the placement of stairs can be called "strategic".

Disco along with this little plastic dancing robot on pedestal. It's rubber band driven so if you press up from under the pedestal, you can make the robot dance. Made in Hong Kong, circa 1970s, 5" tall, orange, blue, red, & green. (pictured with glare in face)

Britney was the bestest fembot.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 10 January 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

You want a camp robot? At the end of the Japanese dancing game Bust a Move (retitled I think Bust a Groove in the U.S.) you face off against a giant robot that vogues! Your character stands on top of a skyscraper dancing to 140 bpm techno while the 4-story robot stands beside you making Madonna's dancers look like Kid Rock.

Here is a very unclear picture of Robo-Z at normal size:

I mean, you can't really see what they're doing but just look where the orange one's arms are and take a guess!

Here are some slightly better ones:

This is the robot of the corpsman who helps the soldier who gets hurt by the war.
It is my taste that a robot has a boy's figure.
A setup is 2865 years.
If civilization is kept so far, though it is good, ?E?E?E War has only to be stopped eternally.

ha ha ha...I would have never thought I'd get to see the phrase "an evil Steve Guttenburg" in my entire life!

Robots should always wear boxing gloves, and electric guitar should always be played not-plugged-in out in the middle of a nice looking meadow, and those two images should never be separated.
