Anyone remember this Richard Stanley film? It has kind of slipped off the radar somewhat but it was fairly well talked about around the time of it's release (in the early '90s).
Talked up as a British Terminator, with the story being ripped off from a Judge Dredd strip, it was quite a fun, apocolypse-on-a-budget hoot, though the wigged-out psychedelic scenes were a bit of a bore, but the killer robot effects were alright.
Fun cameos too from Iggy Pop (voice only as DJ Angry Bob), Lemmy and Carl McCoy from Fields of the Nephilim (yes!), and the bloke from EastEnders who gets cut in half.

Whatever happened to Richard Stanley? Has he done anything since getting fired from 'Island of Dr Moreau'?

He did a film called "Dust Devil", a horror flick set in Namibia as the South Africans pull out. I remember liking it.

that was a-a-a-a-ages ago.

Yeah that was an odd film, but wasn't that before 'Dr Moreau'?

nine years pass...

Re-watched this, recently. It looks like 1990 like crazy, but is still decent. Richard Stanley sounds like a bit of a dick on the audio commentary, but he gives a candid account of a low-budget filmmaker dealing with Hollywood studios.
