what did he die of? that's sad news, for sure.

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 12 January 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

He had operation on his stomach for a twisted intestine (I think), and had a heart attack during the procedure.

RIP :(

sad .

toraneko (toraneko), Sunday, 12 January 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

holy shit. . .

my mom is in the hospital for the second time in less than a month for a similar problem excecpt hers is with the colon.

i do not want to read this.

the last time she had surgery, for a hysteractomy, she went into cardiac arrest. (she has congenial heart problems.)

she's been in a total of 3 weeks now and they're going to keep her at least another couple because they're putting off surgery to see if they can straighten her out otherwise but it doesn't look hopeful.

;(

Good luck, That Girl.

On the subject of Maurice Gibb, I always disliked his voice, but they have written some really great songs, and there are covers that I adore, like Al Green's How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, and a few versions of To Love Somebody (Mirettes, James Carr).

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 12 January 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Al Green's "How Can You Mend..." is just amazing! This is really sad, I'd only heard about MG being unwell yesterday... my favourite's Robin, I wish his stupid wig would die. This is more or less the end of the Bee Gees, isn't it? Good luck That Girl, also.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 12 January 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I mourn him as the most famous person (or one of the three most famous people) ever to live in Chorlton.

I like the Bee Gees, this is too bad.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 12 January 2003 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll miss his voice, thought I spent much of my youth thinking that the Bee Gees were a female group (a misconception not disuaded until my mid-teens, sadly). They're the only disco-era group that I still listen too, and they still sound fresh to my untutored ears.

So rest well, Mr. Gibb. Thank you for sharing your words.
