Matos's 2002 Mix Challenge

This is to alert anyone who might be interested to a sort of contest I'm having. Basically, I want to find out what music I missed out on in 2002, so at http://web.pitas.com/spongiex/2002_mixes.html, I have posted my ten year-end mix-CDs along with a request for folks to make me a CD (or more) of the stuff I missed, to be traded for whichever of the ten I did myself that looks most appealing. (More details on the linked page.) If you already know your tastes and mine don't match, don't bother, but if you've ever agreed with me some of the time it might be worth a shot. (Also, a mistake I made that it's too late to correct now: the New Order box didn't come out in the U.S. till January 7, so in a sense my caveat about "Temptation" is unnecessary. Ah well.)

Thanks in advance :-)
Matos

I think this is a good idea.

Me too, except I have no CD burner. I've been doing pick of the year C90s for friends for a decade, but my CD player is so fucked right now that I couldn't do it this year, sadly. I have to play CDs on my computer.

Yes, but Matos scares me. I doubt I've heard anything that he hasn't this year. Heard the PATE album, mike?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Monday, 13 January 2003 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

What was that you typed, Dan, I can't quite make out the words for the flashing in my eyes! Ow!

What I could make out from the selections already there is that I may actually do this. Matos, is there anything that you absolutely positively DO NOT WANT because you heard it and thought it was vile filth?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 13 January 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

what is PATE Nordic?

most of what I disliked had Bright Eyes involved in it, Sean. but if my tastes seem to agree with yours overall, I'm interested in hearing whatever you wanna throw at me. doesn't mean I'll like it all, but that's fine.

One 'Sounds of Omaha' comp(s) coming right your way!

actually I better lay low as I may (MAY) already be in the hole in re: mix CdRs & Matos (the Dean weighed in on the Streets! thank God it was after the ballots were in, er, right?)

two months pass...
So hey, did you get a lot of response to this and was any of it worthwhile?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 6 April 2003 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

all I ever heard back from him about it was "you like "Underneath Your Clothes" on some thread. :(

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 7 April 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, good response, some good previously-unknown-to-me stuff, haven't had as much time to spend w/them as I'd prefer but that'll change soon. and I'll post something more specific about various CDs later.
