I am so not in the least surprised.

Anything involving Warren Beatty in the last fifteen years. YUCK!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 24 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Body of Evidence.

Willem Dafoe + Madonna + candle wax = ?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!

David Raposa, Friday, 24 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And while I haven't seen it, I'm sure the love scene between Heather Graham & Robert Downey Jr. in _Two Girls and a Guy_ is pretty awful, too.

David Raposa, Friday, 24 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I vote for the cellar scene in 9 1/2 weeks. A remake with the new Mickey Rourke would be even scarier.

nathalie, Friday, 24 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Anything from that Nicholas Cage movie.

Nic Cage Special Award goes to Nic Cage in The Rock. I mean, I'm all for perving schoolgirls, but... yucko.

Thread fucking revival!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I know people who think the sex scene in Enemy At The Gates to be brilliant.

they are weird.

DV, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*counts down seconds until someone mentions Episode II*

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bloody Arwen and Aragorn son of Arathorn, a Kenco moment or WOT! The soppy gits! Just go for a kebab at the bus stop, innit!

Sarah, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But it's WUV. And let's face it, when I first read the book, I had no idea there was anything between the two characters -- the clues are there but very, very subtle. I'll put up with a minute or so of gentle mush if it helps establish the storyline in cinematic terms.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

is it too much to ask that they don't suck the humanity out of the actors before establishing the storyline in cinematic terms?

Tracer Hand, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not stupid but rather funny. The scene in High Fidelity when Cusak pictures his lady making love to Tim Robbins. Queue the Barry White.

Chris, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahah that is yore MISTAKE Ned you should've waited for the film, THEN read the book, that is wot I did! (mini spoilaz hur hur).

Sarah, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oop i forgot one of the characters in question isn't human anyway. maybe elf-love is naturally icky?

Tracer Hand, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You speak in riddles, Tracer. I sense you didn't like the film, though. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh no I like it quite a bit. but i dunno isn't falling in love more to do with wrinkling your noses at each other and being kind of stupid, in a way? they're so fucking bulletproof about the whole thing it's like if that's what falling in love with i'd rather just be turned to marble and be done with it. i don't need a congressional medal of honor to like somebody.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Raposa: the "Two Girls and a Guy" scene is pretty magnificent, one of a few happy verite accidents that redeems the more slipshod bits of that film. I mean, it's no Spike and Buffy in the collapsing house, but still.

nabisco, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I find most 'love scenes' in the movies to be pretty stupid. Especially the kind with lots of weird close-ups where you're not quite sure what's going on at any particular moment. I'll take the opening five minutes of "Betty Blue" any day of the week.
