I wouldn't really put myself in that category, but I freely admit I sometimes have no idea what some of you are talking about. Actually, I get that a lot. And not just on ILX.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Monday, 13 January 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know about 'nothing' nothing, in that he can obviously turn his on and find ILE, but the pinefox might be your man.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 13 January 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't really know much beyond the very basics...

robin (robin), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't really know much beyond BASIC.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

What Pete said, but delete the words "really," "beyond" and "basic."

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 14 January 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Me!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

michael wells (michael w.), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

there are many, but they're all having trouble replying.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Me. Dad thinks I'm a whizz for showing him how to send email though, so almost 'nothing'.

Genevieve, Tuesday, 14 January 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

That having been said I have FINALLY worked out how to do links, and have started putting some up on Church of Me WHOOPEE! :-)

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 14 January 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess I don't qualify seeing as I installed DSL last night, but then again the instructions were designed to help bivalves.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

How refreshing to see a thread involving people talking about what they *don't* know.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to computers, but that's probably down to laziness on my part.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

How refreshing to see a thread involving people talking about what they *don't* know.

this is my kind of thread. except computers are one of the few things i actually know a wee bit about. but if there was a 'lack of knowledge' thread, i'd fill that motherfucker, yo.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to computers, but that's probably down to laziness on my part.

That's the arrogant get-out clause.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I may be arrogant, but at least I can use italics properly.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"lets just say it moved me TO A BIGGER HOUSE, oh no, I said the loud part quiet and the quiet part loud"

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I shun convention.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i just tend to forget about it.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I shun convention.

that's just an arrogant get-out clause.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic. You kids.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 14 January 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I can turn mine on and off, though it's a bit of a hassle sometimes.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it must be the only piece of consumer electrical equipment you're not meant to just like 'turn off'. Computers are so badly designed.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Computers are fine. OPERATING SYSTEMS are badly designed.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

That's like saying Big Ben isn't a clock.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Touchee.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you quoting A-ha at me?

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe maybe.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I can use a word processor and an internet browser and i can make words bold, italic, or underlined. other than that...really nothing.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
I was just having a conversation about Final Cut Pro with a student who said that he grew up in a small town in the Midwest and had never seen a computer until he moved out here. Is that really possible?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I know nothing about computers.

pete s, Friday, 27 February 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a lot of people from the Midwest who haven't seen the ocean. Maybe it's your ears... :)

jim wentworth (wench), Saturday, 28 February 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I'd never used a PC until I went to university. That was in 1996.

caitlin (caitlin), Saturday, 28 February 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Wot is that "computers" you all're talking 'bout here?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 28 February 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 July 2005 00:56 (twenty years ago)

i'm pretty ignorant about computers for someone who uses them a lot.

latebloomer: lazy r people (latebloomer), Monday, 18 July 2005 01:16 (twenty years ago)

I only know useless things about computers. Does that count?

mikef (mfleming), Monday, 18 July 2005 01:20 (twenty years ago)

I get a bit lost when Jon W. and Ed (et al.) start throwing out techie-speak but other than that I do OK.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Monday, 18 July 2005 02:37 (twenty years ago)

I know some stuff about VLSI, the operation of IC transistors and Boolean algebra...Does that count?

I neither know nor care about anything above the level of logic or the electron...

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Monday, 18 July 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

BBBBBBBut that's how you look at porn!

OLD SPICEĀ® CHEMTRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:00 (twenty years ago)

I would like to say that I know quite a bit, but I really don't. Esp about PCs, it's all a mystery to me. Then again I was able to install WordPress so I don't think I'm that ignorant of it.

nathalie's body's designed for two (stevie nixed), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

BBBBBBBut that's how you look at porn!

Exclusing coding (which doesn't really count as using computers, IMHO) it's all about me getting porn. Strangly, getting porn takes in so much tech-know-how that I've become a veritable whizz at this kinda thing.

Come Back Johnny B (Johnney B), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

Yet again porn advances technology.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 18 July 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

i guarantee you it will give us time travel.

latebloomer: lazy r people (latebloomer), Monday, 18 July 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

Hi! I know nothing about computers. True: until last year, I thought that the main bit of the computer was behind the screen.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 18 July 2005 13:02 (twenty years ago)
