Yes! I am excited! A fair few NZ Ile people are going too, Elisabeth, Damian, probably B:Rad though I don't know, some others I"m not sure... should we look forward to much? Is it tapes w/live vocals? IS IT an experience to look forward to? I'm listening to the first (only, as far as I know, where's the next one?) album to rock me up for it.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

arggh. i hate auckland.

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

They're playing in Auckland NZ as a sideline from the Big Day Out. I really don't know if they'll be any good. Anyone seen them?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

they will be amazing.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

yes i'm jealous.

erik, Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

They're a terrific live show, but the American chick's accent in German makes we want to scream.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

They're pretty damm boring live. They play a md, occasionaly fart around with things spread across a couple of tables including an airpad and wave their arms around like your high school drama treacher pretending to be a tree. Maybe they have learnt to be a little less detached from their surroundings.
If you like the music you'll probably like the show. Peaches did a better act since she interacted/confronted the crowd and was plain deranged at times.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Sucking on my *** like you wantin' me, callin' me all the time...

Huh, Yeah! UH!!!

What else is in the teaches of Peaches? Sex on the beaches!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I have both (cos and peaches) and they sound awesome turned up really loud in my car cuz my speakers are busted.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Cooooool.... I LOATHE Peaches. I saw her once, it was the most ridiculous awful stupid "oh sweet god I paid for this" show ever! So, CoS look better. Please, more! Even if it has nowt to do w/CoS, who cares...

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm listening to Saint Etienne's "Sound of Water", for example

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Cooooool.... I LOATHE Peaches. I saw her once, it was the most ridiculous awful stupid "oh sweet god I paid for this" show ever!

Now just replace her cheerleading section with the Chick on Speed molesting eachother with makeup and keeping more clothes on. Switch tunes as appropriate. I mention Peaches as she was on right after Chicks on Speed. They were both different to say the least.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't really heard great show reviews of either (CoS or peaches), but sometimes when you're crusin' you just need some loud drum machine/ female vox action.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i think peaches is fantastic live, although it's been nearly 2 1/2 years since i saw her (with gonzales) so maybe her act has changed. but, judging from that gig, i'd never describe her as boring.

sand.y, Thursday, 16 January 2003 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

It was boring, I mostly talked to people instead of watching.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

actually I can't say I'm surprised. I'm quite content to just hear Glamour Girl at an indieschmindie disco occasionally. Find it hard to believe the group could maintain that kind of momentum.

I wouldn't want to hear them five times a day (ducks).

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 17 January 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I loved their breasts, I've forgotten the rest

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked it, but I was up the front hem hem DANCING so I guess I would. One of the more anonymous videos-projected-onto-a-backdrop I've seen, though - expected something more engaging, um. nice costumes, & more NOIZE than I expected. not a complete waste of time, despite being knee-deep in hipsters!

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 17 January 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I didn't really introduce you to enough hipsters, did I? I don't like most of them. Nor Elisabeth. I don't remember NOIZE maybe I should've paid attention more. Or at all.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The only time peaches has been good live, whilst i've been in the audience is when se was backed by pansonic.

Ed (dali), Friday, 17 January 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I meant Elisabeth doesn't like the hipsters any more than I do, not that I dislike her, which was probably obvious anyway.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I probably shouldn't have been asking "Are you a scenester?" or "Are you an indykid?" in an intense fashion when you introduced me to people, arf. I think I drunkenly expounded some sort GUT theory of German post-gabba something to uh someone, I forget.

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you did meet a great big SCENESTER, plus a pretty bid INDYKID, so yr excused I'm sure. Also the scenester was once a tennis pro, though that was probably mentioned already

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I was a drunken annoyance all night anyway. Since when are me and M. Middleton such great mates? Not to mention my assault on poor Duncan.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

hem hem & what an ASSault it was!

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Hee hee. Who complimented my ass? I can't remember, it was A. or K., I'm pretty sure.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

So was I OTM or not?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

CoS um cleaned the stage/ceiling; I don't think they molested each other with makeup - they did rip bits of each other's netshawls off though. Um there was twenty seconds or so of waistholding during a rabid freestyle, I think.

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

hahah andrew hung out with piglet.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 January 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I did? Who's piglet?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

come on! the diminutive size, the eyes too close together, the snout...

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

But you weren't there!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

you just said upthread, duh!

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

That was a joke, ah, does his name begin w/M? Yes, I did. I semi-stole his beer.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh look I did too. He's my mate, he is.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

ewwwww piglet germs!!!!

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

So like are you on a University computer, then? Yr not on AIM, after all. Too bad.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Di explained, actually.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Geez btw I must not use terms that can be taken wrongly, "scenester" is kind of a compliment to me/Elisabeth (you see lots of music and know a lot of cool/nice people, sounds good), but not I now know to people in general. There was a bunch of stuff that made the word that way but it's not too interesting...

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 20 January 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Electro is so dead please move on. Vogue magazine reckons Peaches dirty electro pop makes her a new fashion icon, need I say more. She's just too shit.

tiny, Monday, 20 January 2003 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

no offense ess-kay but "indykid" is the lamest insult ever.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah same w/that word really

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha you indy kids

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

duane is the patron saint of indykids.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't even know what one is

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

duane is the patron saint of indykids.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

They like the Smiths and the Pixies and Belle and Sebastian and Pavement and wear "unfashionable" clothing.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:17 (twenty-two years ago)

so they're like me except they're young & they got shitty music taste, ok i got it

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think you qualify too well. "They" do other stuff too, if they really exist anyway.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Believe me they exist!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

oh this is just fucking silly.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i would rather be an indykid than someone who runs around calling other people "indykid" as a smarmy insult and worrying whether they are themselves indykids. i mean who the hell cares? its not about what the person is into, its about their personality, right? lets keep it that way. sorry to be a bitch, this is just getting on my nerves.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't think it was serious

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

it's hard to tell around here

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

You have an "indie" personality? No-one as far as I know was being insulting, or worrying about whether they were an IK.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry that "smarmy" thing was aimed at no-one on this thread, i just wish that everyone, myself included, had treated that smug misguided webdiary with the ignorance that it deserved.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Rio's way better anyway.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck yeah.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

but i still have the right to call people "scenester" when i wanna, cos i am a smarmy musician.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

And a scenester... yes I remember about "indykid" now, I get you.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

that diary is killer funny

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

(that diary)

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yr note was the funniest bit.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i kill me

duane, Tuesday, 21 January 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

um I wasn't using it as an insult & I'm not part of yr sordid diaryland INDYKID SCENESTERISM mafioso, harumph.

Ess Kay (esskay), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

haha my cultural tourism is v. reprehensible!

Ess Kay (esskay), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)
