Once Upon a Time in America vs. Godfather

Perhaps a bit of a loaded question one way or another, with "Godfather" (here being defined as you wish--I and/or II and/or III)'s imminent DVD release.

I love Godfather I & II, but my heart ultimately lies with America, which I think of as the Vertigo of gangster epics. And I can't think of a more perfectly executed final sequence.

This is actually a very good question -- I always thought that America had at least as much going for it as Godfather during their respective best moments, and if there aren't as many immediately perfect set pieces in the former like the horse's head/ tollbooth/death in the garden/etc. in the latter two films, hey, at least Leone never filmed a third part to America and then horrifically miscast a younger relative. ;-)

Besides, America had Jennifer Connelly. This is a good thing.
