occasionally, reading kate's posts is like reading my diary, only she doesn't lie to herself as much as i do. though i refuse to provide examples because that would involve shedding my delusions.

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

Eyeball Kicks, Alex in SF, Martin Skidmore maybe. I can't count people I know.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

also ramosi, actually i wish i was ramosi but i will nevah be that cool

geeta, Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

haha whoops jbr i listed you twice!! replace one instance with "s trife" because that's where i jacked the double-exclamation point from!!

geeta, Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

And a bit of Anthony for me I think, occasionally

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

haha whoops jbr i listed you twice!!

I'm honored!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

Rebecca, Suzy, and Kate seem like different facets of my personality.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Sunday, 19 January 2003 10:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

Personalitywise, hard to tell... musically, I think I'm some kind of midpoint between Geeta, Alex in NYC, Alex in SF, Paul Cox, Patrin, Matos, Daddino, Mark S, Dave Q, and Amateurist.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 19 January 2003 11:03 (twenty-one years ago) link

gideon yago and la la

chaki (chaki), Sunday, 19 January 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

Myself.

, Sunday, 19 January 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

i wish i was ramosi too. no wait, i wish i was geeta!

minna (minna), Sunday, 19 January 2003 12:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

I don't think I even have much in common with me, let alone anyone else.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 19 January 2003 12:40 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hey, me neither!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 January 2003 12:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

lurkers probably

Honda (Honda), Sunday, 19 January 2003 12:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

aw gee whiz minna :)

cool, we can switch now! there's a thesis draft due tues that needs writing!

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 19 January 2003 12:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

No-one really, though maybe I need to be on here longer. Many of jel's posts seem to echo profoundly, so I'll say him for now.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Sunday, 19 January 2003 14:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

Anthony Miccio, Nate Patrin and Dom Passantino all seem a bit like older versions of myself to me (plus, I can say with a certain degree of certaintity that Dom was actually the very first guy to ever flame me on the internet! Unless there's some other Eels/Hole/Dean Martin/Belle & Sebastian fan who hates MSP, Divine Comedy and Catatonia running around...)

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Sunday, 19 January 2003 14:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

Frank Kogan, in some ways. Marcello, in others. Graham, sometimes.

Cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 19 January 2003 14:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

Mark Hester reminds me of me on ILE, but less so in real life. CJ says things which often make me feel "yeah!". Archel too, but we're proper, close friends anyway so that seems cheating a bit.

Mark C (Mark C), Sunday, 19 January 2003 16:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

Somewhere out there in Boston RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND is a man who can't decide whether to listen to some Prince, read some sf or regard the world with cynicism. He is a very good man.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 January 2003 17:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

I HAVE JUST SEEN CJ'S CRUSH ON ROBBIE WILLIAMS. I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I SAID.

[shudders]

Mark C (Mark C), Sunday, 19 January 2003 17:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hmm, hard to say. Kim or Maura, maybe.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 19 January 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

I don't like answering questions like this, it feels weird, like I should end the post with "we should be together, too" or something! Of course, I'd love it if somone said *me*...

Sean (Sean), Sunday, 19 January 2003 17:47 (twenty-one years ago) link

It does seem an odd one (thus my flippancy above). I don't come here to find people who are like me, as I have one of them already. But the main reason I avoid answering (besides not thinking that way at all) is that to say that X is very like me would feel like an unprovoked and vicious insult.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 19 January 2003 18:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'd say Sean if it was ten years ago and I was skinny. For now, I'll say Gale.

Arthur (Arthur), Sunday, 19 January 2003 18:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Tracer or possibly mark s but both of them are far more sophisticated than I ever plan on being

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 19 January 2003 18:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ethan I suppose in some ways, parts of Jess and maybe a bit of Dan in there aswell. Although I reckon everyone here has some Dan inside them etc.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:03 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh. My. God.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

God posts here now? Neat!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:10 (twenty-one years ago) link

I dunno Sean, he can be really preachy when he gets going.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

It's odd. The people I actually feel I have the most in common with throught their posts are actually the ones I've had the most tempestuous relationships with. But then again, I have a pretty tempestuous relationship with myself, so that figures...

kate, Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

It's really kinda odd being the subject of a thread like this. Not odd in a bad way, so please don't take it that way, Di. More like... my thoughts are so awful and my life is so crap that I really wouldn't wish them on another person. It's kinda good knowing that you're not alone. But kind of awful knowing that someone else has to go through this crap, too.

kate, Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

JBR, Matos, Daniel_Rf, Dom, not sure who else.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ronan says everyone here has some Dan inside them etc. and then Sean chooses to mock ME? Gotta love it!

Sometimes I do think Nicole and I are the same person. Though I will say that she's got much better one liners than I do - there was that one about Enrique and a Cocoa Puff that was pure genius.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 19 January 2003 19:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

goat.cs@e.x.. duh!

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 19 January 2003 20:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Solely based on posts, I would say James Blount, hands down.

Based on things outside of ILE, I would say Ally, Tracer and Andy K. Great folks, all.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Sunday, 19 January 2003 20:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

God posts here now? Neat!

Yes, Sean, and I want you to stop touching yourself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 January 2003 20:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

Don't make me kill any more kittens!

god, Sunday, 19 January 2003 20:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ain't no one like me! I am UNIQUE.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

What was wrong with my post!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

Robert Christgau! *ducks*

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

I love the way that on these type of popularity (ie people can remember your name) threads I never get mentioned. It makes me feel a bit better about spending so much time here.

Cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

It doesn't matter how much you post, it matters how much you reveal of yourself when you post.

kate, Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

I love the way that on these type of popularity (ie people can remember your name) threads I never get mentioned. It makes me feel a bit better about spending so much time here.

I've never been mentioned before on one of these things. And there I am, first name mentioned in the first response. You wouldn't believe how special I feel, Cozen. Poor you!

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

hah, I was about to say Eyeball Kicks too. Feel the love, shithead.

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Sunday, 19 January 2003 21:58 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah, I know that Kate. That's why it makes me feel better when I don't get mentioned.

Cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 19 January 2003 22:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

some mutant cross between kate, jel and jess (ILE version)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 19 January 2003 22:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

i dont even know.i havent met anyone who is into bikes and babes.

the fonz (the fonz), Monday, 20 January 2003 00:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

cozen - don't take this the wrong way but who are you?? i can't ever remember seeing your name around here before about a week ago - i did think you seemed like a rather brazen newcomer though - i assume you're a regular with a namechange?

minna (minna), Monday, 20 January 2003 01:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Daniel Rf has done more to make me feel less lonely in my opinions, though he's clearly got a lot more figured out than I did at his age. I want to be more like Ned. Except for that "tired of music" part. But moodwise, totally.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 20 January 2003 01:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

I can't believe no one thinks they have anything in common with me.

Mandee, Monday, 20 January 2003 02:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Anna Freud

maryann (maryann), Monday, 20 January 2003 02:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

i am sui generis.

and haven't we done this type of thing before?

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 02:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

(plus, I can say with a certain degree of certaintity that Dom was actually the very first guy to ever flame me on the internet! Unless there's some other Eels/Hole/Dean Martin/Belle & Sebastian fan who hates MSP, Divine Comedy and Catatonia running around...)

Dude, we are legion.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 20 January 2003 02:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Anyway, in answer to the question, Nate Patrin is probably the only other guy on here who knows who Low-Ki is, thus, him.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 20 January 2003 02:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

When I grow up, I want to be juuuuust like Ned.

Curtis Stephens, Monday, 20 January 2003 02:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Both you and Anthony are insane. But I still thank you. I'll get over the tired of music part there eventually, I think.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

Nate Patrin is probably the only other guy on here who knows who Low-Ki is...

My knowledge has been insulted! As if I wouldn't know the Norse God of Mischief!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 20 January 2003 18:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Are you talking about Loki? I actually have a book about Norse mythology. AND I slept with a boy who called himself that. He had blue dreadlocks.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 20 January 2003 19:03 (twenty-one years ago) link

low-ki is a wrestler!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 20 January 2003 19:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

jel wins.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 20 January 2003 19:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

Sometimes Kate's posts read like transcripts of my own thoughts.

Dan Perry has my sense of humor, only he's actually funny.

And then, I think Anthony Miccio is the bizarro-world version of me, because all his posts and his taste in music always seem to be in complete opposition to my own, er, "thoughts".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 20 January 2003 19:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm still thinking about this btw, I think I probably have somethings in common with alot of people, but can't narrow it down.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 20 January 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

sorry kate i didn't mean to single you out or make you feel uncomfortable.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 01:49 (twenty-one years ago) link

and i didn't mean for this thread to be a popularity contest, either. i don't go on the internet looking for people i have heaps in common with either, martin. in fact it can easily be said that me and kate don't have that much in common at all... its just when she writes about her feelings, sometimes i get a jolt of recognition, moreso than with other posters.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 01:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

Shit, I forgot Dan. I do not have CLOWN LUV but still.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 01:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dan Perry: Minnesota born, smart-assed, loves rave anthems, very dirty mind. Yep, that'll work.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 07:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

Great, once again I'm overlooked. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 07:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

j.lu, i once mentioned you on the crush thread. and i still think you are cute.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 08:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

Noone. Not even myself! ;-)

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 08:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

not even me? ;----------((((((((

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

I don't see you as an ILX-er - but as Marcello!

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ain't nobody here like me. Ain't nobody here like me, either.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:25 (twenty-one years ago) link

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

Mainly Gale and now she is gone.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 12:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Er I'd think N0rm4n ph4y and Mark S but in reality I have most in common with Navi the Fairy!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 12:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

aw, i dunno. Nelson the bear?

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 12:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

In that case I'll say Heinrich

smee (smee), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 12:49 (twenty-one years ago) link

j.lu's taste in men seems to be spookilly similar to mine

leigh (leigh), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 12:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

"Navi the fairy"??? Is this more HYRULE HYJINKS?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

everyone who posted on the RPG thread. you're all as sad as me.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

*boo hoo*

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

Dan Perry always says what I'm thinking. Well, almost always...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:15 (twenty-one years ago) link
