I was going to say that it might have been the site of a murder by the Krays...but I've checked and apparently not (I was thinking of Jack 'The Hat' McVitie, who was killed in a flat in Evering Road, N16).

More recently Sandringham Road achieved some notoriety because of a fruit & vegetable shop apparently operated as a front for crack dealing (reported widely about four or five years ago).

Did not one of the Tracey Emin crew have a house which was also a studio there? (I may be barking here, but I do faintly remember this.) It is VERY CLOSE to where I live, but this is not relevant to the question. I don't think it's Kray-connected at all.

Yeah, generally a notorious drug dealing centre. The Casablanca restaurant on Sandringham Rd was raided by police last year. Some kind of Yardie crack ring thing.

If you are thinking of moving there, don't be deterred. The western end (towards Kingsland High Street) is quite pleasant.

no, i wasn't planning on moving there specifically (although i do like Kingsland). i'm still on chatterton road, and haven't made a great deal of progress in finding anywhere.

the reason i ask about sandringham rd was that its just popped in conversation a few times, i knew about the 'notorious' crackhouse, and there was also a remix of a krome & time song called 'the sandringham rd' remix and that was back in, like, 92.

kray killing was on evering rd (97). coincidentally, i walked past it last weekend (its a lovely house). always surprised me that the krays were active up in N16 (didn't they live on Cazenove rd at one point?)

now crops up in radon daughters (think it was in lights out for the territory as well?)
