You can't breathe there around August. Go in April instead.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Saturday, 1 February 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

if I go it'll be the week of July 4th; a friend has Yanks-Mets tix, and Yanks-BoSox tix.

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 1 February 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

It will be very American to see the ancient baseball rivalry July 4th week and the women wear lovely little chiffon things in the summertime.

felicity (felicity), Saturday, 1 February 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

My first trip to NYC was in August (many years ago), and it was unbearable, 100 degrees and very humid all the time. And the person I was staying with had very poor air conditioning, so make sure that you have quality AC where you're staying if you must go then.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 1 February 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i was planning to go in May but other half can't come with me until July or later...my instincts did tell me it would be best to go in the Spring too

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 1 February 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

You can't breathe there around August. Go in April instead.

True, but August is when everyone leaves NYC, which makes it more pleasant for those of us who stay. In April there's a chance it might still be cold. I always think Fall is the best time to visit.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 1 February 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The summers are gross.

But: isn't Ned going to be here the weekend of the 4th?

rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 1 February 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

regardless, go.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 1 February 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Regardless? Man. *weep*

But yes, will be there that weekend. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 February 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm getting the NYC-jones too. OK, I'm comin' too, but I don't know about hot-ass July!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 1 February 2003 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i will be coming back in may or june.*

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 1 February 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

(*this may be a lie.)

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 1 February 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never been to NYC. I may stop by for a few days in late April/early May.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 1 February 2003 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone come to NY!

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 2 February 2003 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

[chanting] summer FAPs! summer FAPs! summer FAPs! summer FAPs!

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 2 February 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

O'OH, TREES ARE LAUGHING,
O'OH, WINDOWS SMILING,
O'OH, WATER SHINING,
O'OH, PEOPLE ROLLING,
O'OH, JULY 4TH IN NEW YORK CITY

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

but I don't know about hot-ass July!

A risk I'm willing to run (it'll also help confirm why I live elsewhere, I'm sure ;-)).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh wah doo wah doo doo ditty... [sp?]

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey school will be out then and I'm also overdue a visit to old stomping grounds. Fourth of July sounds cool!

That Girl (thatgirl), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I smell maximajormegaFAP action. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

That's just the sweat from the bodies mixing with trash on the streets!

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey NYC summers were never as bad for me as they are down here so I'll take your sweaty trash!

That Girl (thatgirl), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

the NYC ILx posse's sweaty trash shall include you now! YAY!!!!

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 2 February 2003 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

so what touristy shit must I do? I'm thinking Ellis Island seems a must and if Speed Levitch still does those tours maybe I'll do that (mock me at will).

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 2 February 2003 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i am there again very soon!

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 2 February 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

:)

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 2 February 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

:)

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 2 February 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm already (possibly) going to Seattle and California some time this year or I would go.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 2 February 2003 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

If I'm not as tediously broke as I am right now, I mnight join you. Something to look forward to, and save up for.

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 2 February 2003 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

If you're coming in the summer, SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK.

Douglas (Douglas), Sunday, 2 February 2003 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Rah, even more people! :-) Nicole, when are you going to Seattle? If it's late May/Memorial Day weekend, that's when the planned visit to Donut Bitch is happening.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 February 2003 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It probably will not be until July or August Neddd.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 2 February 2003 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

ohmigod, I totally forgot about Shakespeare in the Park. Do you just show up to watch or what? Howzit work?

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 2 February 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw, man. Well, make sure you swing by LA. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 February 2003 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's all share an ILX beach house in the Hamptons and accidentally back up our Range Rovers into unfriendly establishments!

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 2 February 2003 07:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't that the most terrible terrible wonderful thing?

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 2 February 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I might come up as well, if I can find a place to stay cheap and a parking place.

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 2 February 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

James the Shakespeare in the Park thing goes - show up at the Delacourt Theater (in Central Park) as early as you possibly can on the day of the show. There will already be a line. Bring a picnic blanket! Some rich people actually hire people to camp out overnight for for particularly hot tickets (Andre Braugher as Henry V for instance). It's fun though, standing in line has become sort of part of the adventure itself. Actors and artists will stage impromptu puppet shows etc for your benefit!

I will not be here, sadly :(

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 2 February 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

puppet shows and picnic blankets! - New York sounds pretty damn corny

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 2 February 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, any chance of you making it to Boston then?

Chris V. (Chris V), Sunday, 2 February 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

An outside chance of that and other spots, but no more. Since I want to combine an NYC FAP with my long-threatened visit to Toronto and I'll be stretching my vacation days off as they are, I don't think I can do more than visit those two cities, at least this time!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 February 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's go down the shore!!

rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 3 February 2003 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Puppet shows & picnic blankets = NYC has turned into some kind of Audrey Hepburn flick.

We should drive to Jersey and go to the Red Lobster or Chilis.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 3 February 2003 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha the NYC gals were talking about how rad it would be if we all rented a big party house on Long Beach Island on July 4 weekend. Who's in?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 3 February 2003 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

fux0rs

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Monday, 3 February 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Awesome Blossom!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 3 February 2003 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracer you have to stay for this! Felicity got a hot new outfit!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Can we have a picnic in Sheep's Meadow and go rowboating in the Central Park lake? I wanna go!! Yeah, Tracer, stay in town!

Arthur (Arthur), Monday, 3 February 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I can likewise vouch for the hotness of Felcity's new ensemble... and I got gold shoes!

So yeah... Hamptons out, Jersey Shore IN.

Jen (nstop), Monday, 3 February 2003 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I got fuzzy pink slippers!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 3 February 2003 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It would be kind of neat to rent a house. I would be in for that (because house = parking = place to stay NOT HOTEL in SHITTYPARTOFTOWN)

Millar (Millar), Monday, 3 February 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

please, we all got hott new outfits.

We are going to look NOW for the Jersey Shore 4th housXoR.

Haha, Tom Millar, look what I wrote before you got your message in:

why don't you drive your sweet American self up here: shore = place to stay + place to park. Arthur, Spencer, Ned, come East!

felicity (felicity), Monday, 3 February 2003 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no, the Jersey shore! All I really remember of it is that it's like one big parking lot trying to reach it... ;-) then again, not so different from trying to reach Cape Cod, which is the only other east coast beach area I've been to.

lyra (lyra), Monday, 3 February 2003 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the Joisey shoah!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

House also = UNRULY ILX JAM SESSION FROM HELL

??

Millar (Millar), Monday, 3 February 2003 05:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Arthur, Spencer, Ned, come East!

I've been saying that!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 February 2003 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

House Party! Kid, don't Play!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 05:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been thinking about going to NYC, to see various people, for YEARS now while being too poor/scared to do so. Over the last couple of months I've been thinking about it more and more... doesn't look like I'm ever actually going to be able to afford it though. :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 3 February 2003 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

We're not going to let you get out of it that easilty, Matt. You *will* visit eventually!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)
