(Ignore the fact that I'm actually 24 now.)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Nickalicious, if you're becoming Brian Eno, you may join the club! Hell, you helped invent it!

We need some rules. And a dress code.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 15:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Dress code?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 15:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes. Perfect.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Rule number 1; You do not talk about 23-year-oldNicks-becoming-Brian-Eno.

Rule number 2; You DO NOT TALK about 23-year-old-Nicks-becoming-Brian-Eno.

Rule number 3; You must be called Nick.

Rule number 4; You must be becoming Brian Eno.

Rule number 5; Actually being 23 is optional (subject to application).

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 15:19 (twenty-three years ago)

ha ha...Eno Club

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Just don't miss-spell it, or we'll all have to buy backpacks and Juno records.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 15:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Weird - I'm already dressed like that.
I actually want to write a book about Eno, since there doesn't seem to be a good one available. I found one, but it was very academic and mainly about his music (not his life), and then there's his diary thing, but I don't know how truthful that is. So I think there's a need there. Too bad I don't live in England. Any other Nicks want to collaborate on my Eno tome?

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 16:52 (twenty-three years ago)

If Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno Brian Eno ever googles his own name and finds this, do you reckon he'll get scared?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(uh-oh, I think you must consult the ÜberNick so that he can inform you that he was working this angle waaaaay back in...let's just say you guys were probably potty-training then)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

ÜberNick?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I think she means Traitor Nick, who has changed his moniker to the slave name Momus and denied his true Nickness.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Also, that dude is way older than 23. And I don't mean he's 24.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

'ÜberNick'=wanky thing to say.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

RJG, git tae fuck.

Nick A, read my post carefully and before you mock, remember he can still pull women just a little bit younger than you, no problemo.

(And don't forget your stylist and suit consultant, Nick Rhodes)

(apols to Kate)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

My friends Tom used to do this. They had a Tom club (a tombola). They once adopted some poor bloke in a club who had lost all his friends and called him Tom all evening.

Tom H: You okay mate?
Bloke: I've lost all my friends. Can I sit with you lot for a bit?
Tom D: Sure, I'm Tom.
Tom B: I'm Tom too. And this is Tom and Tom. What's your name?
Bloke: Steve.
[massive pause]
Tom H: Oh. You can only sit with us if you change your name to Tom.
Bloke: You can call me Tom if you want to.

So they did. For three hours.

(I know 27 people called Tom. It was only 26, but I met another one at the weekend. I keep a running total now.)

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Ed might have you beat on Toms. In fact, some of them might be the same Toms.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Please explain, suzy, I am a feeble-minded American.

Also, I forgot to add this to my above post - ;)

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm giving you an opportunity to guess ÜberNick's approximate age without actually revealing it. But you should show some respect, Sonny, a'right?

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:40 (twenty-three years ago)

40.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, I thought you meant I misidentified Ubernick. I ain't disrespecting him for his age, it's just that this club is for 23-year-old Nicks and maybe 24-year-old Nicks, not others. Hey, what are you doing in our thread? Get out! Mom, Suzy's bugging us!

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 17:49 (twenty-three years ago)

(joke backfired, my fault: ÜN is very fond of saying he was first along with a particular concept, as you know. Since this one has his name all over it, would befit him to turn up and say it was his thing to do in the 80s and now look, people are finally catching up)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Mo, I reckon he's about 38.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 18:04 (twenty-three years ago)

i thought ÜberNick was supossed to be FatNick

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 18:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought this was a thread about Stevie Nicks at age 23. :-(

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 18:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Rhiannon, you will never learn...

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 19:32 (twenty-three years ago)

There's that MTV show called "Becoming" where they style an artist's fan to look like that artist, and then film a fake video with the fan lip-syncing. They should do "Becoming Brian Eno" with me. I would do one of the tracks off of Music for Airports, it would be the most boring and lowest-rated episode ever.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 20:01 (twenty-three years ago)

"Tonight, Matthew, I am going to be..."

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 20:09 (twenty-three years ago)

..buggered.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 20:18 (twenty-three years ago)

when I was 23 Eno influenced my music designs. Now he influences my hair design.

nick ring (nick ring), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 08:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Deed poll!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 09:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmmm... Guys, what do we think about allowing non-Nicks to join the club?

Nicholas Bonapart De La Plage Magnifique Revolutionaire Augustas Southall (Nick , Wednesday, 5 February 2003 09:47 (twenty-three years ago)

B-B-B-UT i don't want to be a nick! only an eno!

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 10:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmmm... And therein lies the rub, my dear, because you have to be a Nick becoming and Eno to join our club. I suggest we put it to a vote. Nicks?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

i've only got a few days of being 23 left. aww.

I've been to Brian Eno's house! (Only he wasn't there at the time.) I met his mother and asked her to be mine. But she was only a candle, a Roman scandal whoa woh, now she's a pool.

Momus (Momus), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 11:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Momus, you are our KING.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 11:54 (twenty-three years ago)
