F'rinstance - you're a US President. Is the easiest way to get your face on currency unit (like Abe, George and Ben before you) to
a) Do something great
b) Preside over massive inflation requiring a new bill, which you can then put yer mug on.

Do having very old, very dead people on our money make us backwards looking as a culture. (I can imagine in the US no-one new ever getting on a note, removing that as a potential ambition.)

Nah, the most likely place for a new face will be when they mint the $5 coin. Are the $1 coins still being made/used?

marianna, Wednesday, 5 February 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

If we were forward-looking with our iconography, would you have suggested putting Judy Jetson on the dollar bill?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Explain 'influence'.

Cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Are there any US prez's from the 20th C that respected that they could get on a coin?

Don't be so species-ist Lara. It should be Dr Zaius.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

'Influence' : singular of influenza.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Join the Illuminatus?

Barring that, I'm with Pete. Start a petition to put Dr. Zaius on a bill.

FDR pretty handily, I would have thought. Maybe JFK though his star may bizarrely have dimmed due to the fact that Clinton got crucified for basically the same shenanigans.

The way the US is going, expect Nixon.

A couple 20th century presidents are already represented right? JFK on the half dollar. FDR on the dime. But the golden dollar went way back in time to Sacagawea. So the next likely choice?

I think it'd be cool if they put Jimmy Carter on something.

marianna, Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Let that be noted the next time I claim to know anything about anything: I don't

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Its alright, we already knew that. That's why you have the word "maths" in your e-mail address.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I meant to ask how you managed to hang on to your Trinity address?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I think getting assasinated is a good bet...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha. Andrew hasn't been assassinated. You are a fool!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm no numismatist - but Eisenhower was on a silver dollar once as well.

marianna, Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you knwo things about medals, though?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

knwo = know

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I used to get Susan B. Anthony dollars from the tooth fairy. I don't know about medals - I just found that they made $5 coins in special runs already!

marianna, Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, at least I didn't ask the question about 20th century presidents in the first place.

I still have that email address (for over half my life at this stage) because I clean out the spam on it fairly regularly and I still know some of the people in there. Sooner or later they'll ask about it, and sooner or later I'll probably give them some money to not ask me again.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I was just confirming that you are 'no numismatist'.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

money's days are numbered anyway.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

That's good news to me.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

How would you go about getting your face on a credit card? I'd probably just have to shag my boss.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

There is a credit card in the UK where you can put what you like as the background (send 'em a digital photo).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking more mass-market.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't want to just be a background. I want my own hologram! Doves, Shakespeare....pshaw! They've had their day.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Only MBNA would succumb to wild requests like those.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

You can do a hologram of yourself - I saw it on Blue Peter once. Be careful it's not an evil hologram though, one that tries to steal your identity and girlfriend.
