gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I should be half way through the 'Assessing Business Performance' and 'Operations' modules of my Visa course. I'm not.

What shall we do?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

NOTHING.

but I failed exams a few weeks ago I'd say.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

This is also the thread where we can say good luck on exams. Ed's got one tomorrow so good luck, Ed.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

*eek*

I will be disappointed if Ed sees these good luck messages as HE SHOULD BE STUDYING.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah good luck to anyone with exams approaching, I know the pain only too well.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

(er.....of having 2 or 3 at the end of my ridiculously doss-centric semesters)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

exams were the only thing i was ever good at and i never studied ;P

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

oh and good luck to anyone who has one soon.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

At the risk of sounding rude...oh fuck it!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm looking into Brazillian cinema at the moment and try to compare and contrast the scene in the 1990's with the scene in the UK. I'm also putting together a research proposal on Black cinema in Britain.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ok i finished chapter 6 on Inter VLAN Routing, it was quite a short chapter, and i know about this stuff pretty much anyway so that was reasonably painless.

tomorrow chapter 7, multilayer switching.

and, yes, feb20 i have decided to aim for

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

recently i started studying Japanese (again) and lace history. but as i nevah have to do exams for'em, i ... oh fuck it, i am pretty poor at both.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah-ha! No more studying for me EVER !!!!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Studying, *weep*. A horrid thing (so yes, best of luck to those with exams).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got to translate my "penpal's" letter from Japanese to English. I got it last week, and I'm excited about what they have to say, but I've only read over the first few lines.

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I am 'studying' poetry. Well, writing it and bringing it to a class. I've learnt nothing but it does keep me motivated. No exams haha!

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

A Nairn, get an iMAC install the latest version of Sherlock and you can translate it in a split second! I love Japanese AND the study books. You can compare them: some teach you *americanized* Japanese. Watashi wa stupidoh desu yo!

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i have a FORTRAN program due tommorrow at 8am. This is my first experience with FORTRAN and the verdict is: cockmonkey. Not only is it FORTRAN, my prof wants to kick it old school and use FORTRAN IV, which hasn't been used since 1977. Blargh.

cprek (cprek), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i have 300 pages to read on greek pottery which i started last thursday and still haven't started. i haven't been to lectures for about 5 weeks, don't wake till about 3 everyday and on top of this i met the prettiest girl since artemis on monday night and she went to america for 2 MONTHS today. fuck i'm depressed

the internet (scg), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

good luck studying people!

Best studying advice I ever had was: little but often, so like studying twice a day for 45 mins - an hour is probably better than 4 hours late at night.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a proposal for a dumb travel website to write with my group tomorrow. I also have to do some truth tables and curcuit diagrams for a stupid logic curcuit, and write up reports for last week's.

My site needs a name - suggestions?

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Howabout: "Get off the net, go somewhere nice!"

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't believe in luck for exams I believe in knowledge. Unfortunately I will not know enough for my exam tommorrow on composite materials to do well. I will pass but not do well. I care so little about my degree now. Academically I have learnt bugger all apart from better exam techniques.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

We is all a shame as I'd love to go and do post-grad in industrial design but I can't even seem able to use that as amotivational tool.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

good luck gareth!

(i am studying cross cultural patterns of assimilation on internet message boards)

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm deep into my first two paralegal courses, Intro to Law and Contracts. Should be studying for a Contracts quiz right now.

mike a (mike a), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

(i am studying cross cultural patterns of assimilation on internet message boards)

oh this is what they call surfing these days. ;-)

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I should be writing the second chapter of my dissertation (postfeminism and chick lit fiction), reading Microserfs by Douglas Coupland, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Dorian Gray by Oscaar Wilde, two essays about postnationalism (I am hoping one of them will tell me what it is exactly), and about five essays on postcolonialism (understand what it is, but haven't quite got myself interested yet).
Instead, I am writing emails until my girlfriend arrives to take me to the pictures. Breaks are important too, so your brain doesn't explode.

Madeleine (Madeleine), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm supposed to be working on a big feature on George Herriman and his Krazy Kat strip in particular for a fine literary website, The Modern Word, and I've been researching it for ages, except only a bit every few months. At this rate I'll die before I finish it.

Good luck with the exams, everyone!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

ur studying sisquo?

the internet (scg), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I have solved the mystery of the Tsai-Wu stress criterion and made it satisfy von Mises. F12*=-1/2

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

my exams just ended. but RIGHT now i'm supposed to be studying the greek alphabet and "a portrait of the artist as a young man" and obviously i'm not.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 5 February 2003 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I start studying for the GRE...Tomorrow

brg30 (brg30), Thursday, 6 February 2003 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

kanji, freud, dw griffith

Honda (Honda), Thursday, 6 February 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

What version of Sherlock? I've got version 2, but I've never used it for anything.

A Nairn (moretap), Thursday, 6 February 2003 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i have to learn about logic for a talk i stupidly agreed to give in a couple of weeks, and about drinfeld modules + explicit class field theory for one a couple of weeks later. also i need to learn lots about hilbert modular forms/shimura curves/formal groups blahblahblah so i can finish my phd.

instead i'm marking undergraduates' assessed coursework. the fun...

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 6 February 2003 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

What logic do you need to learn. I could give you a crash course in the basics.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 6 February 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, 10 mins time i must start on 7: multilayer switching

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 6 February 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

silly stuff about models and first order languages etc. i'm sure i'll pick it up v quickly, i just need to get round to going to the library and finding a book.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 6 February 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, I do look forward to Pete's talk. Why Logic Is Worthless Without Lots Of Lying.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 February 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

But you said you'd start it yesterday!

You are a bad bad mang Gareth.

Graham (graham), Friday, 7 February 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

yeh, inter vlan routing on the 5th, multilayer switching on the 6th! like i said. and i did start. sort of....

shit, im behind now:(

gareth (gareth), Friday, 7 February 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

eight months pass...
I must study chapters 6-10 in my World History book for a test tomorrow, but I am tempted to ignore it altogether and just write-in "I WILL NOT FEED THE BOURGEOIS HIVEMIND" as the answer to every question.

Would this be a good idea?

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Wednesday, 29 October 2003 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Straight shoot to an A

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I am taking my math midterm in 11 minutes, so I really ought to be studying NOW, but I don't feel like it. Um. I'd love to copy Curtis but that'd be plagiarism :( It's a brilliant idea.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to learn everything about Microsoft Word and Excel for PCs tonight as I am going to be tested on them tommorrow morning for the temp job.

And I have a Mac

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh.

Thank God I didn't see this thread last week, or else I would've been weeping like a baby. I had one exam almost every day and I was nearing the breaking point by Friday morning, i.e. the point at which I finally got a reprieve from it all.

Good luck, you guys. (And Curt1s, you've got a lot of gumption.)
