if a kangaroo and a snowman had a fight, who would win?

the kangaroo is more mobile than a snowman so it clearly has an edge. but the snowman's cold temperature may cause injuries to the kangaroo should it decides to punch.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 3 October 2004 11:06 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but the snowman can't move, so even if it was able to block the kangaroo's attacks, there's no way it could actually *win*. The fight would only come to stalemate, with the kangaroo unable to attack the snowman due to it's powers of coolness and the snowman unable to do anything due to it's lack of mobility.

Tuomas is correct.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 3 October 2004 12:30 (twenty years ago)

the joke is on the kangaroo, though. the snowman has obviously won the battle of wits.

caitlin hell (caitxa), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:08 (twenty years ago)

It clearly depends on who is in their home environment. I need to know the weather conditions, surrounding terrain, and any local weapons.

___ (___), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:20 (twenty years ago)

If a snowman fights iin the defence of his village then he has the strength of ten.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:25 (twenty years ago)

Sadly it's ten dormice. Result: a kangaroo victory.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:26 (twenty years ago)

I don't rate the snowman's chances in a sudden heatwave.

C J (C J), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:26 (twenty years ago)

Yes, a key question is, are we in the outback or in a winter climate?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:28 (twenty years ago)

Even in a winter climate, the snowman's status as an inanimate object made largely from snow puts it at an immediate disadvantage. Snowman versus lazy and fat cat would be fairer, though duller.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:30 (twenty years ago)

i think the fact that the kangaroo is fighting with an inanimate object says something about him, though. the snowman is a little smarter.

caitlin hell (caitxa), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:34 (twenty years ago)

The kangaroo would leap at the snowman's head to get the carrotty nose (a tasty snack for a kangaroo, that) and in his excitement would continue to flail his paws around, in that girlie-boxing-style which kangaroos have, and would therefore demolish the snowman quite quickly. This would turn the snowman into a giant slush-puppy, which the thirsty kanga would slurp up, leaving no trace of his opponent (except possibly the coal eyes and battered old hat.

C J (C J), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:43 (twenty years ago)

if it was the magic hat i think the snowman would put up a better fight.

caitlin hell (caitxa), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:44 (twenty years ago)

How many snowmen do you know who wear a magic hat, though?

C J (C J), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:46 (twenty years ago)

Mind you, if it were the snowman from the animated cartoon film The Snowman, then he would surely beat the kangaroo easily since that snowman can fly (and dance).

C J (C J), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:48 (twenty years ago)

How many snowmen do you know who wear a magic hat, though?

frosty the snowman wears a magic hat. "there must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found, for when they put it on his head he began to dance around." i'm stupid.

caitlin hell (caitxa), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:49 (twenty years ago)

Dancing magic snowman vs Skippy FITE!!

C J (C J), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:50 (twenty years ago)

The question is ridiculous. The snowman would just stand there, looking festive. The kangaroo would kick the snowman's head off, "victory" for the kangaroo.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 3 October 2004 13:51 (twenty years ago)

What if the snowman is Jack Frost from the movies? We need to know if this a supernatural contest or not.

the game's sequel, C2: judgement clay, had a kangaroo too. to my chagrin, i am unable to locate a screenshot of the kangaroo fighting mr. frosty.

m loses for bringing up Clayfighters. Blue Suede Goo indeed.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 3 October 2004 21:04 (twenty years ago)

i "lose"?? what's wrong with clayfighter anyway? i remember it being annoyingly sluggish actually, despite the box's claims of 'lightning fast gameplay".

m. (mitchlnw), Sunday, 3 October 2004 21:06 (twenty years ago)

What if the snowman were somehow abominable?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 3 October 2004 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Scarecrow vs Snowman perhaps

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:24 (twenty years ago)

That's a good one Matt! My money is on scarecrow, of course - sticks go through snow, that's how you put snowmen's arms on.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:28 (twenty years ago)

Two dimensional fite to Cute DeATHX0r!

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:29 (twenty years ago)

Kangaroos have no beef with snowmen. They're gentle and friendly creatures.

Hence there would not be a fight, and a nominal draw would be declared.

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:30 (twenty years ago)

I own this thread with logic and vicarious experience with kangaroos.

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:30 (twenty years ago)

Have you never seen kangaroos box? THose things are crazy vicious.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:32 (twenty years ago)

How does one have a vicarious kangaroo experience? Climb into a sleeping bag and just imagine?

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I've been near a red when it's boxed someone, but it was playful, like a sheep ramming people. They only seriously box other 'roos, to my knowledge.

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:39 (twenty years ago)

Although feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Matt: Close. I climbed into a sleeping bag with someone who raised a wallaby, and who lived with someone who raised several red 'roos.

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:40 (twenty years ago)

No, no, I'm sure you're right. To my knowledge they only really box each other - but that agressive potential, when unleashed, if unleashed, against a snowman would be decisive.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:42 (twenty years ago)

Hang on, is this a real man made of snow, or just a lump of snowballs crudely crafted into the shape of Chris Farley?

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:45 (twenty years ago)

This casts the question in a whole new light

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:50 (twenty years ago)

At the start of the thread the position seemed to be a lump of snow crudely fashioned into an anthropomorphic form. But as the thread goes on, people seem more keen on some sort of animate or posessed snowman. Your call, really. I think a kangaroo would win either way.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:53 (twenty years ago)

Ah. See I really should have read the thread.

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:59 (twenty years ago)

I think lots of people should. I like it.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 3 October 2004 23:03 (twenty years ago)

If the snowman is possessed, we have a real fight on our hands. Is the snowman possessed?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

There's a little Michael Keaton in all of them.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:36 (twenty years ago)

True enough. Is the kangaroo a red kangaroo? And are we in the outback or somewhere cold where the snowman won't melt?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:38 (twenty years ago)

now we're going around in circles

Gold Teeth II (kenan), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:43 (twenty years ago)

a snowman would lose, but Mr. Freeze would win easily.

Gold Teeth II (kenan), Monday, 4 October 2004 00:45 (twenty years ago)
