Why are people on ILX adverse to the creation of new threads?

They will reply/bump a thread to discuss a topic with the most tangental connection possible!

One problem, of course, is that you're in the middle of a flowing conversation, and starting a new thread is like trying to get everyone up and saying, "Hey, let's continue this conversation in another room!"
