What was the last piece of musical equipment you bought?

(Anything from guitars to stereos...)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 10 February 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

This weekend I bought a used Marshall solid state guitar amp head, a speaker cord, and a pretty guitar cord.

An MD walkman for £35 on eBay.

Graham (graham), Monday, 10 February 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooooh, I want one of those, Graham, I want something for recording interviews. I think the last music-related thing I bought was a ukulele, and it's not all that great so I barely play it. (Thank goodness it was cheap!)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 10 February 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorta related I got an attachment to plug my cell phone into the line in on my sound card allowing me to do phone interviews. Debating on buying the md walkman versus a tape walkman since I could really use something that plays tapes without eating them like my stereo.

I bought a little AIWA stereo CD player thing about three months ago... I hadn't had a stereo in YEARS, and it was wonderful.

Before that ... I think it was buying a DD-5 delay sampler (truly the PEDAL OF THE GODS!!!) right before our June 2002 tour.

It makes me sad that I have so little money to spend on musical equipment. My biggest expendature at the moment is bloody batteries for said DD05. :-(

Last: Guitar picks and a new sustain pedal for my keyboard.
Next: A new mic preamp.

No One (SiggyBaby), Monday, 10 February 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

1/8" miniplug to 2 female RCAs
1 male mono RCA to female 1/8" miniplug
1 male mono RCA to 2 female RCAs

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 10 February 2003 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, if we're getting THAT detailed about it, I bought a 2 quarter inch mono female jack to 1 quarter inch mono male jack splitter about a week before my last gig! It was so I could feed both drum machine and guitar into the sampler pedal so I could loop both.

kate, Monday, 10 February 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i just plug them all into each other, it's fun. adaptor pr0n!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank god I got all this out of the way a while ago. The last piece of hifi gear I bought was my Naim CD 3.5/FlatCap cd player. I plan on keeping what I've got for a long time.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a box filled with all sorts of adapters for printers, joysticks, videogame consoles, stereos. This scuzzy, USB world has no apriciation of having everykind of printer adaptor in the world.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

yesterday i got an amp modeller

ron (ron), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I just sold my minit-moog and silvertone amp-in-case thing so I can buy something new. Not sure what though but I'm pretty sure I need something.

El C.I.D. (lawrence kansas), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

My Glockenspiel about a year ago. It's neat. It's almost a year since I recorded anything, I have been gathering song titles, so I may be inspired to do something soon.

I have lots of stuff, my faves are my Concermate 500 and my Casiotone.

If I do get any new instruments, I'd like:

Any sort of cheapo drum machine
Suzuki Q-Chord
A new zither
Stylophone
Theremin

Last thing was 4 "Modcan" synthesiser modules - a VCO, an banana-1/4" jack adapter plate, a dual crossfader and an envelope generator, for the synthi-literate. I might get this used Novation "Nova" module, if it's cheap enough.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, I also want a banjo.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

best answer yet.

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Last: A cd player and a stereo amp at the thrift store, $15 each.

Next: A new microphone or an ebow. I want an Ebow for valentine's day. Has anyone else played with one of these? Are they awesome?

Nick A. (Nick A.), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I bought an ebow last weekend. It is indeed awesome.

dan (dan), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

last september... sennheiser hd-25 headphones and stanton 680HP cartirdges. the former are the best headphones i have ever used. amazing isolation, clear music, etc... the cartridges are loud, and the best value ever. dont waste yr cash on ortofons... you will be licking the contacts more than yr significant other and that is not a good thing.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

My pick? A Rega Exact.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 10 February 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

A CD Walkman about a month ago, at £25.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 10 February 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I think my Stanton turntable was the last thing, and prior to that my two Fender guitars (one of which I'm now trying to sell)..

If i had the $ I'd buy a Neumann microphone and a sustainer pedal..
