I see that Ali G makes his debut on American television next week, with his celebrity-interview-type-show.

What will you all make of him, I wonder?

OH GOD DON'T REMIND ME.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 February 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I spat my cup of tea out onto my keyboard in a very unladylike way just then.

C J (C J), Monday, 10 February 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

he's a piece of shit, so i could make a doodoo out of him.

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 10 February 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

hijack: does america get 'shooting stars'? or other reeves/mortimer

zemko (bob), Monday, 10 February 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

also, how is The Office going down over there?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 10 February 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

pretty sure it's only on the bbc so only anglophiles watch it; it has gotten a little bit of press so who knows (I mean to watch it but end up watching quickdraw mcgraw instead). I dread the ali g show more than I dread another season of def jam poetry slam but not as much as I dread the bill maher show.

Gee I miss a lot with out cable

brg30 (brg30), Monday, 10 February 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I think The Office is only on BBC America, and I think a lot of cable services don't carry it (mine doesn't, anyway). Ali G will be on HBO, which fills me with great joy that I don't have HBO.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 10 February 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The lack of cable is often a beautiful thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 February 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno. I just don't think he's going to fly over here. Nobody seemed to really give a damn about his cameo in Madonna's "Music" video.

Dame Edna Has Risen From The Graaaaaave!

(sung to the tune of Blue Oyster Cult's "Joan Crawford")

I saw Shooting Stars when I was in the UK a few years back. It puzzled the bejeezus out of me for about half an hour. I love it now - I have about 4 episodes taped off BBC2 and I love showing them to friends and watching their reactions. I often find myself miming holding a handbag and going "oooohh!". Reeves and Mortimer are great!

Ali G sucks the big one, though.

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 10 February 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

ah trayce then you know not of 'donald cox the sweaty fox'

zemko (bob), Monday, 10 February 2003 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

zemko - err, I can't say that I do. That sounds ... interesting... ;)

We get some BBC comedy in Aus but the best stuff never shows up here (shooting Stars, I'm Alan Partridge, etc). I am waiting for the whole 4 seasons of the Fast Show to come out on DVD. I've lost my tape of the episode with Johnny Depp and the "suits you" guys. Classic.

Whoops, total thread derailment there. Pardon me.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 10 February 2003 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Careful, that's got to violate international treaties regarding the transport of toxic waste. To say nothing of what it would do to US-UK relations.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yahoo Serious

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)
