Are there rules about this stuff?

I think there should be a "grace period" after a breakup, in which each party decides that they will not pursue rebound flings, etc., so that there is a chance for both to get heads straight and act rationally. But this is the real world, and in the real world, they've usually got a new one within a week. Does anyone else agree when I say "FUCK THAT!?"

I say DRINK!

What ever will be, will be, no use worrying about it.

Several hours of your life spendt listening to 69 Love Songs may be in order as well.

yes, well some of it, others I thought were great for getting over it.

'Oh Yeah' is sticking in mind at the moment.

In 2001 I started dating someone literally a week after his breakup with his long-term girlfriend (you know how it goes: we were friends, and I was consoling him, and he said "hey, you wanna go out for a drink?" and not knowing whether he was asking me out or just making a friendly gesture I said yes).

Big mistake. I wouldn't do that again. There was just too much bad feeling in the air -- our relationship constantly had this big doom cloud over it, and its name was The Ex-Girlfriend.

It seems like a good thing when you get dumped but no so good for the one filling in the ____friend void.
