e-mail notifications - classic or dud?

am I the onle ILXOR who uses e-mail notifications?

I started a thread where I said I felt bad about posting stupid comments, then seeing the "notifications sent by email" message.

Apart from a few occasional or first time posters, you are the only regular I can think of whop does this.

I do it mainly because I like to have an artificially stuffed inbox. also so I'll know if someone has posted to an old thread of mine. and also so I can read responses offline rather than online.

I wonder if you're using e-mail notifications kind of like the cardboard cutout "friends" in The Lonely Guy (Steve Martin, 1984)?
