What does your name mean?

BurmaKitty (BurmaKitty), Saturday, 15 February 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a large rodent, isn't it?

Anyway, some grapes are pretty tasteless, but you do lose your sense of taste with a cold. Send me these grapes to try, and I'll tell you which it is.

I think Martin is thinking of capybara.

My cousin has a chihuahua named El Chupacabra, which looks like a rodent.

I might have been thinking about your cousin's chihuahua. Had I known of it. Yes, the Chupa-Cabras=capybara joke has been made before, but it is one I like.

The chupacabra is the legendary Mexican goat-eating beast that swoops down from the sky and carries off people and pets to eat. It made the papers here in Los Angeles a few years ago, and even showed up in an X-Files episode.

The capybara is the world's largest rodent! Sorry about the grapes.

When I was in primary school there was a book in our school library about a capybara. It was my 2nd favourite book, after the one w/ really nice illustrations about the hen that had ducklings.

All grapes taste delicious. Always. This is a rule.

Syllogisms at their best!

My writing was a syllogism. The syllogism was at its best.

My writing is at its best.

I read abt the chupacabra for the first time on Friday. It sounded really weird. I can't think of any rational explanation for it (most of these tales centre on a beast which looks like a real, but extinct one, e.g. yeti = Gigantopithecus, Nessie = plesiosaur ect ect) but its hard to imagine how chupracabras can be anything but a legend.

large grapes are generally quite tasty in my experience. I prefer the black to the white varieties. The small seedless ones often don't taste of anything very much.

nine years pass...

"Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some grapes hanging high on the vine but was unable to, although he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked, 'Oh, you aren't even ripe yet! I don't need any sour grapes.' People who speak disparagingly of things that they cannot attain would do well to apply this story to themselves. Later the grapes fell down and the fox ate them and they actually WERE sour. He said 'Oh shit, they ARE sour !' "
