The Times reports that bush is laying doen the law with Turkey over Iraq. I find this offensive. Turkey should be able to make decisions over its policy on the war independently of development aid. Turkey has a very difficult moral decision to make over supporting the US's stance. It shouldn't have to suffer for making a decision in keeping with the democratic will of the Turkish people. Especially when Turkey should be held up as a reasonable example of a country which is both democratic and largely Islamic.

BTW I know Erdogan is playing this to try and get as much out of the US, it works both ways though.

But I hate the way the Axis of Cockfarming is bullying small powers into joining up, and then claiming that they've got an enormous multinational coalition behind them.

It worked through Google News last night but appears to have stopped. Also furreners have to pay £39.99 to read the times online.

This is where it is now and you have to register, which I'm not going to do to get the text up. It does however work through Google News.
