I like the fact that his toe sparkles when he kicks people

The moving JPEG of Tiger Driver '91 is officially where its at. Hipper than The Music and that crappy new Hellacopters album combined.

Nate have you ever played New Japan Pro Wrestling 3 ("Toukon Retsuden") for PS1? it's got all the major japanese wrestlers from like 2000 or so (Benoit, Muta, so many other guys), when the other wrestler is wobbly and been knocked around enough, all the moves your guy does are even crazier. it totally gets the whole triple-reverse dramatic flow of matches, it r00lz! (no dynamited barbed-wire matches, unfortunately)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 21 February 2003 06:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Nate, are you familiar with the Toryumon Wrestling League? Particularly Stalker Ichikawa? If not, this is your new mission.

JS Williams (js williams), Friday, 21 February 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Toryumon is THE SHIT. I'm almost glad Ultimo Dragon's American career was cut short by an incompetent oaf of a WCW-hired surgeon so he could head back to Japan and bring out the batshit Japanese/Mexican crossover style. I haven't seen much of their recent stuff, but I saw the T2P debut show and the vast and myriad number of ways peoples' limbs can be severely hurt truly astounds me.

Toukon Retsuden sounds swank, but I'm all about the King of Colosseum right now. I'm just waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 22 February 2003 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Non-sequitor (sic?): I want pictures of Mick Foley bodyslamming guys into barbed wire and wood boards teeming w/ rusty nails. (Actually, I don't, but I'll post this anyway.)

Toryumon is the best Japan has to offer at the moment, definitely, MAGNUM Tokyo was always a favourite of mine.

Anyway, I can't find pictures for it, but there's one moment that totally refutes your hypothesis. New Jack. Vic Grimes. Living Dangerously 1999. 30 foot scaffold dive onto 4 stacked tables on conrete.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 22 February 2003 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not a big fan of the spotfest deathmatch buckets-o-blood style, but I gotta tell you, watching Ryuji Yamakawa clock suckas with flourescent light tubes is pretty fun.

>>I'm almost glad Ultimo Dragon's American career was cut short by an incompetent oaf of a WCW-hired surgeon so he could head back to Japan and bring out the batshit Japanese/Mexican crossover style.<<

Ultimo Dragon is making a Great Muta/Keji Mutoh size comeback. Word is he's as good as he was in 1997. Of course, the fact that you say "American" means you probably already know that. =)

>>Anyway, I can't find pictures for it, but there's one moment that totally refutes your hypothesis. New Jack. Vic Grimes. Living Dangerously 1999. 30 foot scaffold dive onto 4 stacked tables on conrete.<<

Its not often you "know" a guy's been hurt legit. That was definitely one of those moments. He completely missed the tables, hit the pavement, and Vic (who's around 350-400 lbs) landed on top of his head. Very, very ugly. I have that on tape somewhere too.

-who notes barbed wire/explosive cage/land mine matches aren't nearly as cool as you'd expect, due to all the stalling-
