James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Tagalongs. Peanut butter + chocolaty goodness = yum!

hstencil, Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the purples ones with the tiny pictures of George jefferson yelling at a vision of the virgin mary which has appeared on Martha Stewarts face in the form of acne breaking out because she is afraid she will go to jail. They are grape flevored

Mike Hanle y (mike), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Hanle y likes trefoils?!!!!

= mmmmmmmmmmmm

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

frozen Thin Mints, foolz!!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Ohhh Samoas!!! YUMMMMM!
Is there a way to buy them, not from a real live girl scout? Like a website or something?

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

thin mints are very, very good (a strong number two for me) but I've never eaten an entire box of thin mints in one sitting whereas I have, just now, eaten an entire box of samoas in one sitting which is probably why I have a stomachache right now.

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.girlscouts.org/about/cookie_hist.html

"For the safety and security of the girls who are selling cookies, Girl Scout cookies® are not available for purchase online."

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 23 February 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, that's a good thing too I think since 1) they benefit the specific troop that's selling them and 2) it maintains the specialness

Girl scouts are so much cooler than Boy Scouts it ain't even funny

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 23 February 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"For the safety and security of the girls who are selling cookies, Girl Scout cookies® are not available for purchase online."

Uhhh, I don't really understand the logic behind that.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 23 February 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"safety & security" = "money benefits specific troops"

I'm a peanut butter man, but then when it comes to cookies I always am. also, what Blount pictured

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 23 February 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

The best ones are the ones made from real girl scouts, of course (groan).

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 23 February 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it that time of year again?

Mmmmmm samoas mmmmmmmm.

rosemary (rosemary), Sunday, 23 February 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracer Hand is OTM (although I've never tried them frozen). For the sake of my already excessive waistline, it's probably for the best that I can't get Thin Mints year round.

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 23 February 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, tagalongs and samoas, I can't choose between the two! And then maybe a box of thin mints as well for good measure. When I was a girl scout I always sold a significant amount of boxes to myself, it was sad.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 23 February 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracer Hand is OTM (although I've never tried them frozen).

Seconded. That sounds scrumptious.

When I was a girl scout I always sold a significant amount of boxes to myself, it was sad.

Well, at least you got sales. I ended up buying quite a few boxes from my sister when young. Num.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 23 February 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Little Debbie, of course!

I'M NOT YOUR UNCLE FRANK, Sunday, 23 February 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

the problem with tagalongs is that they are down to like 4 cookies a box now, every year there is less.

keith (keithmcl), Sunday, 23 February 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

You can afford it.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 23 February 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i can eat a whole box of thin mints in one sitting. it's a shame they're not available all year round!

are girl guides the canadian version of girl scouts? i never took part in any of these um..."fun" organizations, so i don't really know.

sand.y, Sunday, 23 February 2003 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Tagalongs and thin mints. Who in this bitch sold these things? Me, I did!

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 23 February 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

man I miss when my sisters were Girl Scouts.

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 23 February 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Little Debbie, of course!

Oh my goodness! Moderator! Moderator! Issue a PETE TOWNSHEND ALERT ASAP!

Jules is Flabbergasted, Sunday, 23 February 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

girl guides

Speaking of Pete Townshend... here comes Ivor the engine driver to make you feel much better!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 23 February 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait no ones said "brownies" yet???

brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 23 February 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Thin mints r0x0r when frozen. TASTE THE DIFFERENCE.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 23 February 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Samoas!

Oh, and you can order Girl Scout cookies online, as I did a few years back, from one of the web-savvy troops out there. Though given mine (and others' stated) predilection for the one-box eating method, you should all probably pretend I never mentioned that fact.

Jen (nstop), Sunday, 23 February 2003 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The one with the gooey texture in the picture James posted above is the Best!!!

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 23 February 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and you can order Girl Scout cookies online, as I did a few years back, from one of the web-savvy troops out there

you're going to post the link, right?!

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The one with the surf board is my favorite.

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The cheerleader! Yay!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

samosas and thin mints are being discontinued in edmonton.

anthony easton (anthony), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I would kill myself I could never have a samoa again.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay cool so I'm the only goody-goody here who wore a girl scout uniform and trekked door-to-door through suburbia trying to raise money for the troops?! Fine!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I did this. But I really tried to sell to my parents' friends and co-workers first before I resorted to this because I was (and still am) very lazy.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I was kicked out of Brownies.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I closed I came was the camera.

Lara (Lara), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

closest

Lara (Lara), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

SAMOAS ARE THE GODS OF ALL COOKIES, BOW DOWN YOU FOOLS. Also they've introduced something called Ole Ole which is like poor man's Mexican wedding cookies and they are the newest bomb. But still not Samoas.

I was always the champion sales person of my Brownie troop. I'd sell like 500 boxes of cookies, without fail, and that would be on a bad year. This year, I had to sell cookies again, for my bosses daughter. I got to about 200 boxes from my office before my boss took the sheet from me, screaming "I have to drive all these cookies in here! Are you insane!" His daughter was ecstatic.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 24 February 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I knew from the beginning capitalized comment that Ally was up in this bitch. I am also deeply tickled by the image of Ally the young Brownie.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:29 (twenty-two years ago)

(And for what it's worth, I'm an Eagle Scout and therefore a defender and paragon of America's highest ideals.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

That's pervy, Ned.

The Brownies thing, not the Eagle Scout thing.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned's a scouting perv.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't be a perv, I just said I was a paragon! Dammit.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

phil-two: Unfortunately, I lost the link to the online cookies. But a quick search for it online brought up nothing, so maybe the national organization is now enforcing the "no online orders" directive.

Jen (nstop), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)

as fer me, i'm surprised that it was Ned and not Mr. Perry that said the first pervert thing on this thread!

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how Ned describes himself as an Eagle Scout in the present tense

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Officially speaking you're never not one once you've earned it. I really should have returned it after the Supreme Court decision let the BSA enforce its homophobic ways, but my dad (who is also one) would have been annoyed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:58 (twenty-two years ago)

so the Eagle Scouts are like the Marines?

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 24 February 2003 04:12 (twenty-two years ago)

In a way, in a way...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 04:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think "Bros before hoes" is the official Eagle Scout motto.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 24 February 2003 04:15 (twenty-two years ago)

That was part of the recent revision of standards.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 04:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Oooooohhhhh...Thin Mints. Frozen. With ice-cold milk. Heaven!

Or homemade chocolate ice cream with crushed frozen Thin Mints in the batter and then more sprinkled over the top.

But I also like the lemon ones, too.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 24 February 2003 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, milk is essential to the Girl Scout Cookies Experience.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 24 February 2003 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay cool so I'm the only goody-goody here who wore a girl scout uniform and trekked door-to-door through suburbia trying to raise money for the troops

Was this recent, Mary? Are there photos?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 24 February 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I do have pictures, and I was wondering what Gareth would think of the BROWNIE uniform :)

Mary (Mary), Monday, 24 February 2003 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

:o

gareth (gareth), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

He looks like a Gormley!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

the samoas shrink every year

it is a girl scout conspiracy

geeta (geeta), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I want a box of Angry Samoans.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i want a box of angry samosas

geeta (geeta), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Somehow I knew that was coming.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

haha geeta u noe i nevah sleep

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

My first girlfriend was a Girl Scout. Every time we had a fight she'd try to make it up to me with a box of Thin Mints. It more or less worked.

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 24 February 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Douglas likes 'em young!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 24 February 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

At the time Douglas was seven.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 February 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I still have my Brownie badges and pins.

rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 24 February 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
I just got like 20 boxes of cookies. I like samoa's too, but they are called "caramel delights" now because Samoa is not pc. Its would be a lot cooler if they were called "Rikishi Fatu's." I like them Thin Mints too.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I will forever and ever refer to them as Rakishi Fatus now.

I really like these new chocolate-dipped shortbreads. I've eaten at least 3 boxes just sitting here at my 'pyooder at work (you'd think I'm a fattyboombalatty by now, but thank god for hollow-leg syndrome!).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 27 March 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ya know what I like all the damn cookies. Im not going to lie. Im the cookie monster yo.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, they didn't have Samoas or Caramel Delights or whatever the hell else they were called when I bought cookies! I thought they had been discontinued -- I feel so gypped and deprived now.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 27 March 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
Someone just put on my desk:

2 boxes thin mints
2 boxes do-si-dos
2 boxes tagalongs

that I ordered ages ago and had completely forgotten about.

I think someone in England had asked for some GS cookies on another thread? I can't remember who, but whoever it was, if you want, please email me and I'll see if I can send a box over.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I think it was graham.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Felicity, thin mints are really good in mint juleps.

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Really? We should try some like that on one of these warm summer days.

graham, please check your email.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

yep, ask Mary and Jody, they had 'em too.

I've actually got a little bit of Maker's Mark Mint Julep mix left over from Derby weekend.

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the only ILXor who doesn't like mint juleps?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know, I'm not sure I've ever had one.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally this dislike of yours must be the true source of all our troubles. But I will put it aside, because you are such an awesome, hard-rockin' gal.

(tho I bet if you had a Thin Mint Mint Julep, you might like it!)

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not really fond of Thin Mints either, truths be told. hstencil, are you hitting on me?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

no, just showing my appreciation!

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(I'm afraid some fireman might kick my ass)

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(oooops!)

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

You did NOT just say that. I think you should be more afraid of me.

Anyway, I don't see the fireman anymore. I mean, really, me and a fireman doesn't make much sense when you really think about it, does it?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I mean why would you want anybody to put out your fire?

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's more about the reputation of the FDNY versus the reputation of the Ally.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, they've got that "American Hero" reputation to protect.

(sorry for the thread hijack)

hstencil, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I think firemen probably like Tagalongs best.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

That's ok, hstencil, it's just the that's ok.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the only ILXor who doesn't like mint juleps?

No.

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the ones in the green packet

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 08:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I want a box of Thin Mints too! Send them to me please!

marianna, Wednesday, 14 May 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
I was the best girl scout evah. I could do with some Samoas right now.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 9 August 2003 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

tagalogs were gross. the samoas and the mint cookies ruled. and i used to steal my little sister's gs cookies cause i was a little hellion.

Tad (llamasfur), Saturday, 9 August 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Word. Samoas and Thin Mints are where it's at.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 9 August 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, it's tagalongs. tagalog is a filipino language.

Tad (llamasfur), Saturday, 9 August 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

tagalongs damit tagalongs and why bring this up now when they are not being sold, just to torture us with the memories of sweet sweet cookiehood?

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Saturday, 9 August 2003 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos I'm a beeeyotch.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 9 August 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)
