Something about Tupac always bugged me. Monsieur Smalls didn't as much. Not the most thorough analysis in the world, I admit, but then again I can't say I'm a regular listener of either of them.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 2 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Topac liked PB and J

Mike Hanle y, Sunday, 2 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ned has a biggietupac

Geoff, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm still waiting for your analysis of "Ready To Die", NR.

Greg, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

True, that has been hanging fire.

Dude, they both rock. I can tell you exactly what's bugging you about Tupac; it's the whole "sensitive, introspective thug" dichotomy which can be really off-putting.

Dan Perry, Saturday, 13 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tupac had an Inca first name; ergo, he was cooler than Biggie.

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Saturday, 13 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dunno about Tupac, but it works wonders for me! Haw haw haw.

Biggie was lyrically better than tupac and if this isn't true why does pac admit he was jealous onm one of his albums he says I used to let big come on stage with me and now it's like people I know are going to biggie smalls concerts. pac was gay anyway

Nathan, Sunday, 17 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nathan, Tupac said that because he made biggie, he brought him on stage with him before he was anybody, and got him onto the main stream, then when bad boy couldnt sign pac, they signed biggie. Tupac hated bad boy, and while biggie was with him (he was suppose to be one of the original members of thug life) he claimed he hated bad boy, then he signed with him. And about biggie being a better lyricist than Tupac, he wasnt, Tupac came out with the hard hitting social issue songs, as well as softer songs, and hard hitting Gansta Rap, while biggie mainly brought out, Hard hitting songs. Biggie wasnt better than Tupac, but he is still better than all the rappers out now. none the less, because of B.I.G. Bad boy is still in business

Tupac was the best rapper ever. Biggie was all about banging lyrics and beats but pac had more dimensions to his music he was more complex. Y'all who say Big had better lyrics are talking shit! Tupacs didn't just rap he told stories like no-one esle could or ever will.

Any of you that think any different bout pac run ya mouth coz ya chattin' shit. In comparison BIG 'Can't C' 2PAC

RIP 2Pac G.O.A.T

COME ON NOW, BIGGIE AINT ON PACS LEVEL, BIGGIE CANT SPIT SHIT LIKE THAT>>>> BE FOR REAL NOW, BIGGIE IS JUS ONE DIMESIONAL, ALL HE CAN DO IS RHYME, NOT IMPLEMENT FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS...........

Finally, the thorough analysis Ned called for at the beginning of this thread.

Nemo (JND), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel better already.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The one he does not prefer he will start a thread for pondering why he does not like them.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I could do that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

my mom likes BIG better by default. she says all (like every single one, no exaggeration) of her 10th and 11th grade students have pictures of tupac in the front of their binders, and that it reminds her of some sort of weird cult.

no BIG death-cult, as far as we can tell.

vahid (vahid), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

biggie and tupac sound like condom names.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 3 April 2004 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I do like how even though the title asks one specific person something all these googling non-neds* felt compelled to chime in anyway.

*the Googling Non-Neds is the worst fake band name ever. (sorry, Ned. or non-Neds as the case may be.)

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 3 April 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds like what should be my drunk backing band in Portland in two months, so if you and DB and Donna want to do the honors...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I do like how even though the title asks one specific person something all these googling non-neds* felt compelled to chime in anyway.

It'd be a lot funnier if it were other Neds who thought they might have missed something.

its about who strikes hardest, not who strikes first
thats why i laugh when i hear that wack ass verse
that shit was the worse rhyme i ever heard in my life
cuz the greatest rapper of all time died on march 9th

and what, Friday, 9 March 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

god, what dumb comments i made 6 years ago.

then, as now, i prefer biggie to tupac. i preferred biggie's flow and voice, and i think that he was by and large a better storyteller than tupac was -- and better able to portray multiple characters in his songs (see, e.g. "gimme the loot" and "warning"). not that tupac was a slouch at those things, but i always found biggie to be just more gripping and compelling a performer. and i strongly disagree that biggie was "one dimensional" compared to tupac -- he just wasn't into doing the social commentary/"conscious" stuff that tupac occasionally rapped about (to be fair, biggie also didn't have tupac's family experiences w/ the black panthers & the U.S. government to draw upon and use as a reference) (then again, listen closely to, e.g., "juicy" which -- while certainly not "conscious" -- is a sort of rosetta stone of sociological and psychological insight of going from being dead broke, unsuccessful and depressed to having wealth, success and happiness).

RIP biggie.

artdamages, Saturday, 10 March 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

artdamages, Saturday, 10 March 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

(not like like)

artdamages, Saturday, 10 March 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

why compare when you can love both.

nathalie, Saturday, 10 March 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

"Kick In The Door" > "Against All Odds"

Dom Passantino, Saturday, 10 March 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

cum c mee if u gat a problem with that faggots hahahahahha

Please add this to the end of FAQ.

Also, Biggie's voice, flow & storytelling ability are superior to Pac's and they trump Pac's conscious content imho.
