Graham (graham), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

(inspired by Sunday's Time Team obv)

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

No - but I do like my friend Chris's rather a lot. Another friend has a stripey Denace the Menace style jumper but he wears it like a goth so--.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a red one, which is very rawr and a grey mohair one that is beautiful. Oooh and I have the loveliest red stripy tank top - the stripes are rainbow coloured.

I am very pro-stripes. I have a stripy scarf too and even at work, I wear pin-stripes.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I have one, which I bought in Brittany. I like it, but it is getting a bit out of shape.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

If you mean sweater, I have one that is beige and has flourescent pink, green and orange sttripes on it.

You do realize that in America jumper means the light blue thing below:

So when we tell someone we saw a pinefox in a purple jumper it's kind of tempting to giggle.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yes - pink and black

minna (minna), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

But it is funny when the Pinefox where's a purple "jumper" for us.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Some things are universal.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

no

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

striped jumper

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a grey and black mohair-style one. Used to have a red and black hand-knitted affair but it made me look like a grungey pirate.

I demand to see the pinefox in a purple jumper, US style, ASAP.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

You do realize that in America jumper means the light blue thing below:

Felicity, that is clearly not a jumper. You are mad.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a jumper!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

No, it's not.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Possibly it's related to jump SUIT?

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It's related to jumping of course!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you'll find that it's a PINAFORE DRESS.

The only stripey jumpers I have are rugby tops. Stolen from rugby players. Mmmmm

C J (C J), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I deeply regret not buying an olive green curdoroy mini jumper at the cK boutique at the Sogo mall in Chiba circa '98. Curdoroy jumpers are g-great.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I love stripes, but the make me look like a mental patient (more so than usual). So no.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Lara, I'm not mad at all. I have no reason to be angry with you.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha ha

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I do. Many of you have seen it, I think. It's various shades of green, with a polo neck, it's quite figure hugging (and I have a waist so I sort of quite like that). I bought it in a second-hand store in Denver, and the fact that I really liked it before I tried it on more than made up for the fact it was originally from Gap.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha. Mark, your standards are so impossibly high!!

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Stripey to thread!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

sometimes i think i own nothing but stripey jumpers

ron (ron), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

what do you people think a jumper is?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Warm and wooly usually.

I have no stripey jumpers.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I am touched to find myself already mentioned on this thread.

Possibly I would suit a striped, or hooped, jumper. I'm not sure.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a couple of stripey jumpers... I love them. My mum is making me another at the moment, and if I get some black wool she might get around to making me the Dennis the Menace one which I've been asking her to make me for about 10 years now.

celeste (Celeste), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Despite being strangely pegged as Dennis The Menace (UK) on the ILE As Cartoon Characters thread, no. I haven't worn a jumper of any kind in many years.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i just made you dennis the menace uk because you'd alluded to him in a recent thread, nothing sinister

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I wasn't objecting or thinking it sinister, Fritz. I was happy to get a nomination at all there, and so early! I just mentioned it because of the jumper.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
How did I miss this thread? Stiped jumpers *AND* Time Team. I love randomiser. Why yes, of course I do. It is purple and green.

kate, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to own one or two. They're long gone. Oddly enough, I was considering a new one with purple involved. I don't know why.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I can only dream of owning a stripey jumper!

Skottie, Thursday, 3 April 2003 04:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I own this.

http://members.rott.chello.nl/e.visser25/fall2001b.jpg

When I laf it makes me look like a chechire cat.

Erik, Thursday, 3 April 2003 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a stripey jumper but I don't wear it very often.

http://www.imgmag.org/images/gillanders/tugendhat.jpg

I prefer stripey trousers.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 3 April 2003 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

so a jumper is a kind of long sleeved shirt? I'm so confused!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Thursday, 3 April 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Closest US equiv jumper = sweater.

kate, Thursday, 3 April 2003 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't wear stripes, I'd love a stripey jumper, I've bought a few but never worn them - it's the breasticles you see, my body shape is just not suited to stripes, woe is me....

smee (smee), Thursday, 3 April 2003 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Not even vertical stripes? I know, let's get Rich to cut up those rather fab trousers and make a jumper for you out of them.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 3 April 2003 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

yes i do.

minna (minna), Thursday, 3 April 2003 06:59 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

relevance! (not)

Mark G, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

i have many.

but rly, to bring this into 2007:
how many of us have Stripey Trayce Top?

g-kit, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

or maybe that should be 1987

g-kit, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

I own a Stripey Trayce Top TM, I was wearing it last week. Proper one, like, in black and white. I have a brown and different brown one too, which is probably a bit indie of me, and a various shades of blue one as well but the last two are definitely t-shirts and probably don't count. I think that's it for stripey tops for me, which is a shame. I used to have a grey and black stripey woolly jumper which was my favourite thing ever. I bought it when I was about 12 and last remember seeing it when I was about 26. I miss it :-(
