ILE Pub Shenagigans With Ulterior Motive: 6th & 8th September

Sorry, I've been a bit busy to bully Ronan today but it is nice to see that Emma has been keeping the good work up. Anyway I get to announce another possible get together for all those good ILE people who occasionally come to the pub (the Triggerfest massive).

This Thursday I turn 28 and will be celebrating likewise down at the SOAS bar between 5pm and 8:30pm and then moving on to the Lord John Russell on Marchmont Street (all in the Russell Square environs). This night is important as it will be the headcount for a particular bet I have had with Emma which I intend to win.

On Saturday there will be the much vaunted Multi-coloured Pub Crawl in London's past-it Soho. Exact route yet to be finalised (Tim?) but it will start about three and will almost definately take in a Blue Posts, a Red Lion and potentially a Green Man. You are invited cordially to both, though such welcome may not remain cordial as the drink starts a-flowing.

Having just called Pete a liar I would now like to call him a cheat and say that if he wins our 'who can get most mates to come out on birthday' bet on the grounds of spurious interweb buddies then the bet is declared null and void.

Emma, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When did you call me a liar. I mean today - generally you call me a liar and with good reason but when did you call me one "just now".

We could do double or nothing on your birthday next year if you want. Anyway, do you think any of this lot will come?

Pete, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not interested if you're 28. Pretend you're 27 again, and then MAYBE.

Sarah, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There will be plenty of other 27 year olds there....

Pete, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma calls Pete a liar

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Green Man in Soho is vile. I called you a liar on the When did you get picked for games thread. On my birthday next year I will be in a hammock on a tropical island and your puny bet will mean nothing.

Emma, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will be coming on both days like the sot I am and Isabel will be attending on one of them at least. I have even bought Pete's birthday present already so it better be good.

Tom, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'll eb around on Saturday until I am called away to DJ at Strange Fruit (also featuring one A. Maclean, occasionally of this board, and his excellent Clientele).

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(richard i have never seen that word misspelt before)

mark s, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(Blimey. I really should read through stuff before I hit submit.)

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 3 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can exclusively reveal now that this Saturday's Rainbow pub crawl will be starting at The George on Wardour Street at 3pm this Saturday.

Pete, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can see what you've done there, very clever. I take it you'll be going to the rod, jane, freddy and Firkin in Hoxton later?

cabbage, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We were just getting a bit desperate for colours.

Pete, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you could have gone to that angry shouty pub in Covent Garden, the lamb and black flag.

I'll get my coat

cabbage, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And then is everyone going to Strange Fruit afterwards? It looks to be a very somber night indeed.

marianna, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought there was a gold and a white one around somewhere. To do with eagles or something. Anyway, good call.

Tom, you are truly boundless - how are you managing to fit in both Pete and His Amazing Multi-Coloured Pub Crawl AND Thomson Watch at the weekend?

Magnus, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm going to try and fit in Strange Fruit too if at all possible cos I've not seen the Clientele for ages and I hear their new songs are GNARLY.

Anyway COME ON YOU LOT for tomorrow's crawl. You missed a fine night last night, except for those of you who didn't, including Sam! Who it was nice to meet.

Tom, Friday, 7 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom I shall then be accompanying you as AMUSINGLY I think I might be going to Strange Fruit as well, coz I wuv the Clientele. I'm hoping for a revaltory experience like when I saw Isobel Campbell perform Family Tree to HILARIOUS effect at the Albert Hall and now I wuv her too.

If desperate for pubs do "Bricklayers Arms" count - w/ brick being a shade of the RED?

Yes it is a chiz I missed out on last night due to poverty but as I got PAID this morning I shall be out tomorrow with money for beer. I spent last night playing Final Fantasy and I have a crush on the lead male character now. OOO those strong silent types. Rowr!

Sarah, Friday, 7 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was good to meet you lot too. I feel dreadful today and I can't really work out why. Perhaps I should have drunk some of Nick's special coffee-beer.

Sam, Friday, 7 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I might be able to come tomorrow. Where's it starting?

Graham, Friday, 7 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I probably can't make it tomorrrow, so if so have a lovely time y'all.

DG, Friday, 7 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The George on Wardour Street.

Tom, Saturday, 8 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The George is Dublins premier gay bar.

Ronan, Saturday, 8 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I feel iller than man haf ever been before. Not much else to say. Danced to One More Time on a stage. I kept the spirit of CLUB SUSSED going at Strange Fruit although a load of you ponces didn't turn up.

Urrrgh.

Sarah, Sunday, 9 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am reasonably well, which is suprising. It was a great night, although Sarah should be heinously embarassed as she danced to Baxendale. I saw it with my own eyes.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Sunday, 9 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS BEFORE THE PAIN WAS TOO MUCH! Honestly though, this may or may not be down to the amount of booze, but last night was the best Strange Fruit I've ever gone to! Um - ok so that would be best of about THREE but whotever. I believe I even danced to the Smiths chiz chiz. Whot was I thinking?!
