stevem (blueski), Friday, 28 February 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm quite happy with the one I've got (with more money would be handy.)

Other than that I'd like to be a rockstar, air hostess, have own radio show, fashion designer, boutique hotel owner, novelist, own an olive grove, go to Newfoundland and work on a newspaper like in The Shipping News.

There are several things there that I would probably grow to hate after a while.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 28 February 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Eurostar driver.
Designer of things (not graphics, interiors or textiles)
Photographer.

stevem and MattDC, my sister is a mate of freddie and phillip Ljungberg, they are both dumb pretty pboys from what I've heard.

Ed (dali), Friday, 28 February 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

fashion designer, model, novelist. actually if i got a job as a mathematician in london i'd be happy for life, i think.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 28 February 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I could still achieve all three of mine, I think.

Ed (dali), Friday, 28 February 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

My White Hart Lane conscience is wracked to its very epicentre about that Freddie Ljungberg comment. Can I change it to Steffen Freund please?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 February 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

foxy young maiden in a toga

j0e (j0e), Friday, 28 February 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I'm working on it, so here are the ones which have not come unstuck while attached to the wall they've been thrown at:

Having never been one of those operators with a screenplay in the works, I find myself asked by a film director and his girlfriend to send stories, etc. The stories are a good fit for the director based on past work, but I've been farting around with freelancing and attendant financial crap so much I've only just worked out a way to link them. What I really need is development funding but you can't get that on a wing and a promise. This director is currently without UK distributor (cough).

A photographer asked me to do the text for a book about rock stars' fashion but three weeks ago the publisher decided they wanted the (socialite) photographer's diary of subject encounters instead, which seems foolish to me in light of my assessment of her subject knowledge and writing abilities. It has been suggested to me that I should gazump this woman in collaboration with a more famous photographer holding associations with the subject, using a slightly different twist that doesn't overlap the other book. All I have to do is join the dots in my address book but obvious moral dilemma here as although feeling messed around, would I be seen as nasty to do this?

Trying to sort out curating something at Barbican with friend who is too busy to work on proposal but is clinging to project, causing delay, and I am wussing by not chasing her at all.

Three separate nonfiction book ideas (which I suppose could form an arc attractive to a smart publisher). One of these is from publisher who would cast me as female Jon Ronson, but the ideas I've generated for the other two would probably achieve this better than his ideas.

Longstanding offer for book of short stories from Booker-winning publisher, total of ten interested in ye long form whenever it appears, hence feelings to self of 'this had better be good'.

Anthology project on back burner for ages, but should target specific publisher. Will find out who bought particular book I like and go to them. Anthologies really difficult to sell considering first one I did sold to first publisher, now very grand indeed, who I saw.

I feel like I can see the cookie jar but cannot reach it. OPTION PARALYSIS AHOY!

suzy (suzy), Friday, 28 February 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Liverpool manager, DJ, critic with a few books under my belt, and finally host of the Pete Tong show which would have to change its name obviously.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 28 February 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 28 February 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick A. (Nick A.), Friday, 28 February 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what he put on his tax papers, sure, but really all he did as far as I can tell was travel the world in between bouts of idleness at Marlinspike and get in lots of trouble with fanatic nationalists and secret societies of varying stripes.
