SLAYER

Propaganda death ensemble
Burial to be
Corpses rotting through the night
In blood laced misery
Scorched earth the policy
The reason for the siege
The pendulum it shaves the blade
The strafing air blood raid

Infiltration push reserves
Encircle the front lines
Supreme art of strategy
Playing on the minds
Bombard till submission
Take all to their graves
Indication of triumph
The number that are dead

CHORUS
Sport the war, war support
The sport is war, total war
When victory's a massacre
The final swing is not a drill
It's how many people I can kill

well i for one am shocked and appalled

stevem (blueski), Friday, 28 February 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

this is Lee from Blue's anti-war song (seriously)

All I hear is voices in the crowd
Though they only whisper though they frown
People saying oh it's such a shame
Still they only look to pass the blame

If we can find a way to work things out
The only way to start is to start now

Chorus
When are we gonna stand up as people
Realise that as people we're all equal
We don't want no world war sequel
For the love of god think of the people
When are we gonna stand up as people
Realise that as people we're all equal
We don't want no world war sequel
For the love of god think of the people

Children always learn by what they see
So we gotta practice what we preach
Don't you know if thats the game of life
We refuse when we chose to fight

If we can find a way to work things out
The only way to start is to start now

Chorus
When are we gonna stand up as people
Realise that as people we're all equal
We don't want no world war sequel
For the love of god think of the people
When are we gonna stand up as people
Realise that as people we're all equal
We don't want no world war sequel
For the love of god think of the people

I pray before I sleep at night
That I wake to find a clear blue sky

Chorus
When are we gonna stand up as people
Realise that as people we're all equal
We don't want no world war sequel
For the love of god think of the people
When are we gonna stand up as people
Realise that as people we're all equal
We don't want no world war sequel
For the love of god think of the people

I love the chorus. Shame he couldn't have worked "steeple" in there though.

I was playing this CD by a forgotten metal band called Bitch (c 1983), there's this song called "World War 3" which probably sounded really stupid at the time esp.her folk-bar-chick-singer-goes-metal schizo preening w/extra cracks for the 'rock chick' vibe but the amateurish vox/lyrics + terrible Brian Slagel production make it sound almost unbearably poignant now. "It's times like this I want to cry/ I'm so afraid I'm gonna die"

SABBATH

Gen'rals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction,
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh Lord Yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave thier role to the poor, yeah

Time will tell on their power minds,
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah

Now in darkness world stops turning,
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more War Pigs have the power,
And as God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling,
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh Lord Yeah!

my own band, my own lyrics:

false prophets leading crusades and jihads
all blaspheme in the name of the same god
there's more going on behind the scenes
than what you see on the faces of modern day royalty
plenty of pain and propaghanda
keep trading the upperhand
keep up the killing in the holy land
fighting just leads to more killing
just leads to more dying
just leads to more mothers that are crying

welcome to the funeral
civilians and criminals
sinners and infidels
humans and animals
blood on the hands of their generals

i saw some military hardware today
they changed the color
olive drab
to yellow brown grey
the color of our dead
the color of our glory

Come on, you can't go past the overblown gothic pomoposity that is Human League's "Circus of Death" ! :D Quite odd to think a song from the early 80's works just as well now as it did then...

The circus of death is approaching
Its pathway is painted in red
Before it the frightened and helpless
Behind it a trail of the dead

The narcotic that forges their union
Is a substance known only to one
To the clown it is known as Dominion
It's a secret that he'll give to none

The drug which gives the clown power
Means the circus can never be stopped
And his dream can go on unhindered
Till the last human being has dropped

Spare me and my family
I've done you no wrong
Go away, please let us be
I've known you for too long

Worst lyrics ever:

Antiflag - 911 For Peace

It's in the paper every day
You see it in the headlines and you feel so sick
As another life leaves this world - this world so full of hate - but short!
Short on compassion, short on humanity
Asking myself in vain, shaken by the shock…
"Do we even have a chance?"

I don't want to die
I don't want to kill
We are all human
It's time to prove it

This is a plea for peace (world peace)
To the oppressors of the world (and to…)
To the leaders of nations,
Corporate profit takers,
To the every day citizen
Greed, envy, fear, hate- the competition has to stop!
When you see someone down - now is the time to pick `em up
Set our differences aside and never look back!

I don't want to die
I don't want to kill
We are all human
It's time to prove it

Isn't everybody tired of the fighting?
Killing?
Dying?
Hatred?
Violence?

(*excerpts from "I Have a Dream" by Dr. Martin Luther King*)

I don't want to die
I don't want to kill
We are all human
It's time to prove it

FORTUNATE SON

Some folks are born to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no,
Yeah!

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no.

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more! yoh,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, one.
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, no no no,

stevem (blueski), Monday, 3 March 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this song is quite applicable to today's situation:

The eastern world it tis explodin?,
violence flarin?, bullets loadin?,
you?re old enough to kill but not for votin?,
you don?t believe in war, what?s that gun you?re totin?,
and even the Jordan river has bodies floatin?,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don?t believe we?re on the eve of destruction.

Don?t you understand, what I?m trying to say?
Can?t you see the fear that I?m feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there?s no running away,
There?ll be no one to save with the world in a grave,
take a look around you, boy, it?s bound to scare you, boy,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don?t believe we?re on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood?s so mad, feels like coagulatin?,
I?m sittin? here, just contemplatin?,
I can?t twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
handful of Senators don?t pass legislation,
and marches alone can?t bring integration,
when human respect is disintegratin?,
this whole crazy world is just too frustratin?,
and you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don?t believe we?re on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
but when your return, it?s the same old place,
the poundin? of the drums, the pride and disgrace,
you can bury your dead, but don?t leave a trace,
hate your next-door-neighbour, but don?t forget to say grace,
and you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don?t believe we?re on the eve of destruction.
