my uncle calls his old-skool beatle Baggio

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Sunday, 2 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

no, my friends called my old car "the tank" because it was green and had a big growly diesel engine. I thought it was a dumb name considering it was a pretty fast car, I mean I'm by no means a car person but if I was that car would be pleasing

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 2 March 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to refer to my car as "The Crapmobile." Maybe the transmission broke down last year because it resented that name.

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 2 March 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

yes it's called a jetta.

cars having model names always struck me as being specific/affectionate enough. they're all "a car" to me.

Mine doesn't, but my old boyfriend had a yellow rabbit aptly named "Old Yeller" and his sister had a volvo named Monty

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 2 March 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

it was a vw golf and it was 'dimples', which is terrible - as were the enormous parking fines the old girl racked up.

It's called the liz!mobile, but some other friends deemed it the wankerwagon awhile ago.

liz! (liz!), Sunday, 2 March 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

My first car was a Toyota Corona SE that was called Elvis for the amount of oil it leaked.

My old man had a Volvo years ago when I was growing up, which I used to call the Brick on Wheels. He has recently bought a Holden station wagon (after 40 years when I remember him swearing he'd never buy either a Holden or a SW) which has inherited the title to be 'Brick II'.

My mate and his girlfriend now have almost identical 'his-and-hers' Lancers. She called hers Lily and when he got his a bit later on he christened it, 'Thommo'.

no, but my friend's truck is named 'little buddy' (aka lil' beezy)

i am in favor of calling as many things as possible by the name little buddy

Or=ur car is called Bullet because she's silver (GEDDIT?).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 March 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i get the silver part, but not the Or=ur part. is that welsh?

ron (ron), Monday, 3 March 2003 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

It's bad proofreading. Or=ur ==> Our

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 March 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

my triumph is georgina, and she's the only one who understands me.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 3 March 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 3 March 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

My son has christened mine "Daddy's Car." It didn't have a name before that, so it's kinda stuck.

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Monday, 3 March 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Our car is named Oscar, after Oscar Wilde. For which I have no explanation.

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Monday, 3 March 2003 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

my favorite car name ever is "bonky", that's exactly how it behaved

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 3 March 2003 07:16 (twenty-two years ago)

oh my god, my friend peter names his car oscar, after oscar wilde too! cos oscar is a gay icon.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 3 March 2003 07:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The only car of mine that that ever had a name. It was known as 'The Beast' because for a long time it would backfire violently until it blew a hole in the exhaust mainfold. Then it really was a snarling beast, until I got it fixed.

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 March 2003 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

The first car I got when I was with my ex-wife had a registration starting SAM, so she called it Sam. I called it "the car".
