So said the local music paper in response to a demo they'd been sent. But what are the characteristics of ppl who can't make up their minds about whether to be Goths or not?

Enlighten me.

HAHA most of the SO CALLED GOTHS who I am trying to be like are actually REALLY RUBBISH INDIE KIDS or dodgy ravers, and some of them even smile! No wonder I cannot make up my mind if I am going to join THE DARK SIDE or not, it's faded since I last was there yer get meh...

Anyway Carsmile is a goff too.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 3 March 2003 10:35 (twenty-three years ago)

look, just because i know the dance moves to "temple of love" doesn't make me a goff, s'not my fault there weren't proper indie discos in cheltenham...

I am wearing black today, but have off-set this with a purpley pajama type shirt, I have closed the blinds to block out the sun. But I am listening to Journey and drinking tea.

Oh lordy, not this again. Kids -- like Punk Rock before it, GOTH IS DEAD! And I don't mean UNdead either.

I've always thought that if I ever get upset with my life, I should just become a goth. I was basically a goth for most of high school. I wore lots of black and navy and dark purple and listened to the Cure and Lou Reed and such. I just wasn't exposed to goth kids. I missed out on a whole culture. *sigh* And now it's too late cuz I'm all happy and peaceful in life.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 3 March 2003 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

something tells me this has a lot to do with the goth "revival" (though, really, did it ever go anywhere?) in fashion and music, though no one will own up to it, most of all these "dodgy indie kids" who listen to bands like interpol, glass candy, subtonix, etc. all bands that should rightly be considered goth. also, recent fashion spreads in a number of magazines have been "goth-revival" themed, so since it's become hipster fashion it'll be co-opted for a bit. but don't worry, the grunge revival will come take care of that.

justin, Monday, 3 March 2003 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

what about spookykids eh?

alix (alix), Monday, 3 March 2003 15:56 (twenty-three years ago)

mark, i assume this wasn't in reference to the MBICR album, cos they are *clearly* a bunch of goffs but far too beloved of n*ghtshift types to ever get that sort of abbrobium...

does n*ghtshift on line get updated these days?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 3 March 2003 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

nononono, this was a reference to Dead Lines (no, I haven't either) who wound up in the Demo Dumper!

Nightshi(f)t Online!.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 3 March 2003 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

chad z. (synkro), Monday, 3 March 2003 17:54 (twenty-three years ago)

cordelia, Wednesday, 5 March 2003 01:18 (twenty-three years ago)

i would make a crap goth, i smile even when i feel like shit.

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 01:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Geez, if goth is dead, someone better tell the people running the 5 weekly successful goth nightclubs in Melbourne then *grin*. See, its all changed now, doncha know. Get wit da program. Yer modern goth gets about in PVC fetish gear, glowsticks and shiny things, and thinks VNV Nation and Apoptygma Bezerk are goth music. When the club I used to go to started going DOOF DOOF DOOF DOOF all night long every week, I threw my hands in the air and stopped going out.

And I was never really a goth anyway. Shut up Jim, dont you say anything! :P

The dress code at Nicole's school is one that should be implemented nationwide, I think.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)
