Do you save favourite threads? Do you save any threads? D'you save all of them? D'you see the Twin Beeotch (as we used to call it in the old days) as a grand cultural resource to mine in days to come, or as a brief off-season fling, unsustainable but never forgotten, with a boy/girl/bot from across the — and yes, tears well as I reach for the familiar formula — traXoR?

What, you leaving us or something? Nobody leaves ILx, you just realize that your life is empty without it. Punk.

Every so often I do a trawl through some of the old threads on both sites -- I like the ones that suddenly spark up again for no apparent reason.

"Energy" on the Internet ("Energy": excitement, "vibe", coming- together of talents) pools and dissipates quite quickly. This is the secret reason doing stuff on the web is called 'surfing', really: you ride the wave, you regroup, you wait for the next. In this it's little different from anything else. The things to be saving are e- mail addresses, not so much what's being written (though I wish I'd saved all the crap I've talked over the years onlike, that said).

If ILE goes down the pan as Ethan suggests on ILM (pah, don't ask him for racing tips) then I'll dump the entire forum to a file (as there is an option to on the moderator screen) and distribute as necessary.

ethan's racing tip: DON'T BET ON DG

It's like pop culture, when it's gone, it's gone. Well for me anyway.

Recipe for increased longevity and usefulness: paste the following into Word or Simpletext or Notepad, save as "somethingorother.html" in a place you'll remember. Drag into yr browser window for years to come (or as long as freefind is liquid... hrm.) ThanXing to Graham.
