how do you become 8% mancunian?

why not 7 or 9?

hristov, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 02:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought this read "i am manchurian" and thought it sounded cool.

Just what is "mancunian," anyway?

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 04:22 (twenty-three years ago)

someone from mancunia.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 04:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Sheesh. Now why didn't I think of that?

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 05:18 (twenty-three years ago)

double good

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 06:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I claim to be Mancunian on occasion but wouldn't pass a strict interpretation of the Manc Purity Laws, being from Stockport.

James Ball (James Ball), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 09:25 (twenty-three years ago)

1/2 scouse

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 09:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Is the true Mancunian a Man City fan?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 10:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Does Rochdale count, seeing as it's in Greater Manchester? I suspect not, given the schizophrenic attitude to Manchester of the Northern suburban mill-towns.

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 11:04 (twenty-three years ago)

If you removed all the plastic Scousers, plastic Mancs, and plastic Cockneys from Britain, the population would be about 4.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

what abt Wilfrunians then?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

we have a Wilfrunian ILxer...wonder if she knows that she is?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 11:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Dom, you're ignoring the huge swathes of people across England, east and particularly west, who fall into the straw-chewing category of 'Wurzel'. And you don't have to come from the country - the populations of Bristol, Southampton and Norwich all qualify.

James Ball (James Ball), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 11:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Andrew: *definitely*!

elisabeth k, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 18:07 (twenty-three years ago)

hristov, you have my sympathy. Bad luck.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 18:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, but are you mad for it? Top one etc

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 01:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I am a naturalised Oxonian.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 09:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Strictly naturalised. Half my life in the city. But I am a City fan.

Tag (Tag), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 09:11 (twenty-three years ago)

MVITA!

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 10:15 (twenty-three years ago)

what I want to know is: where did these names for ppl from various cities come from? Who thought them up? Some of them may be based on the Roman names for the towns, but I can't see any evidence for this. Ppl from York aren't called Eboracans are they? Or ppl from Chester Devans? Or ppl from Bath Aquae Sulisians? Though I quite like the idea of a woman from St Alban's being dubbed a VERL GURL.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 13:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I am Oxonist. Hello 'Hristov'

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)
