The other one is too big...
It is 1:30am. I worked 9-5 and then 6-11. i am tired and here it is...

so, um, how long is it going to take for me to deal with the fact that I am in my 20s now? tonight i went to launch.com and watched all the videos from the earlyish 90s and was getting all nostalgic and shit. I was watching the video for "hobo humpin slobo babe" and then also thinking about "my so called life".

umm? how are you and where are the random pictures? thanks!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Saturday, 8 March 2003 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i have horrible vision of all my favorite mid-nineties pop-punk and grunge being used, 'wedding singer'-style ten years from now in a comedic riff on the nineties.

22 = Ancientx0r.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Saturday, 8 March 2003 07:07 (twenty-two years ago)

What am I doing up at this time in the morning on a Saturday? What am I going to do with the day? What am I going to do with my life?

kate (suzy), Saturday, 8 March 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm old.
I ask similar questions and I'm entrenched in a career.
I spent all night at the office transcribing a Randy Bachman interview, and now I'm sitting at my computer at 4 a.m. and drinking martinis.
I am sad,

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Saturday, 8 March 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Bloody Hell, I'm gonna be 27 in 5 weeks! So, being in your early 20's is not old at all.

but anyway what Kate said.

I got up early coz I wanted to check out that 8thMarch2003 business.

Where is Erik??? He hasn't been around for a while.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 8 March 2003 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I am going to be The Jesus Age in four weeks. Fuck off, age ROXORs U R all young.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 8 March 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Time for me to get an update, jel! Who are the champs and stars at present?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

HOw can I get actually caught up and engaged in actually CLEANING my room, as opposed to getting bogged down in meaningless tasks like alphabetising and pruning my CD collection?

chaki (chaki), Saturday, 8 March 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

WWE Champion on Smack Down is Kurt Angle. Team Angle are the Tag Team Champions. Went out half way through Raw, so I dunno if Triple H or Big Poppa Pump is champ. Stone Cold, the Rock and Hogan are back!!! I might get Sky Digital so that I can see Wrestlemania...Hogan vs Vince McMahom, and if Hogan loses he can never wrestle again.

where is erik?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Saturday, 8 March 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Bachman is doing a small club tour behind his recent self-released album and DVD. It was a live recording of a "storytelling" show he did in B.C. He played his best-known songs with his touring band and then told stories about how they were written, etc. The tour hits my city at the end of March.
I write for the localy daily and the managing editor wanted me to do a story before Bachman came to town.

can we turn this into a monday conversation thread? i am bored at work and have no AIM access and also i have nothing to add to many of the threads that are up right now, which is my fault...

so how was the weekend?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

My weekend was nice, thanks for asking.
Friday night I lounged around watching Six Feet Under on dvd. Sadly, I've finished watching Season 1 so now I'll have to wait for the next season's release.

Saturday I ate yummy diner food and went to my dad's in Lexington, VA. It was a perfect day to be out in the country. That night we were late to a wedding so we just went to the reception, which is the fun part anyway.

Sunday I came back home, played loud rock music with my bf and another friend at the practice space downtown. Read magazines and books outside on the deck, sprawled out on a comforter. Scrapbooked.

Lovely lovely lovely. Ready for the weekend again.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds fun
friday was ALL work for me, but i played "i come from san fran." by gold chains on the record store system after all of the customers left.
satruday was me hangingout downloading and then i met j.lu for drinks in DC. Tom M. was supposed to come but he had car trouble.
sunday was bullshit. i wanted to relax but my parents were bugging.
i downloaded a lot of music throughout the weekend but i started to actually physically o'd!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

also, sarah, we are trying to put together DC FAPs around two shows:
q and not u and also TELEVISION!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm down for a DC FAP, especially around Television. (I've seen Q and Not U a couple o' times already). Let me know what's up, or start a thread or something.
Oh yeah, some DC self-promo: my band is playing at the Notasquat (email me for address/directions, but I think it's at 8th and Buchanan) on Monday the 17th, which is St. Patrick's Day. Come and say hi if you want. Sarah might be there too.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds cool what type of music?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to the George tonight, if anyone wants to pop along for an ale or two. But text me first cos we might have moved on!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Our website. I don't know, like choppy/slightly amateurish/dissonant but still with standard structures/"experimental" rock music? The other bands playing are Player Piano, This Scares Me, and someone else I forgot but it's listed on our web page. If you come, introduce yrself to me, I'm one of the guitarists.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't live in DC, so I'm not up for spontaneous FAPs, but can come with a little advance notice probably.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday, I saw Maid in Manhatten, it was okay, I enjoyed it. Ha! Started reading the Counterfeiters by Andre Gide, it's very good.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 10 March 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i will revive the DC thread once i look up the dates for the shows and have lunch.

jel i havent seen Maid yet... i dont think i will. i really miss good romantic comedies. most of them seem to follow the "opposites attact" formula and the best ones, like "sabrina", can reference sterotypes without depending on them...

hey all i am quite bored at work again. how is everyone? is it spring for you yet?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 13 March 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

It's spring here (today anyway). There are fresh buds on all the trees. I'm going outside to eat my lunch soon.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 13 March 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i just had my lunch, or some of it... the office offered me a sandwich from the restaurant at which they were picking up their food. i chose "chicken BBQ", and, when i got it, it was topped off and coverd with horrible cole slaw. apparently, here in the south, the coleslaw is placed inside of the sandwich (or at least that is what my co-worker form TN tells me). i have lived in VA for 22 years now and have never experienced it before.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 13 March 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never seen that either, and I've lived in South Carolina and Lousiana too. It's always glopped on the side.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 13 March 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

That's North Carolina BBQ. It's like shredded pork without sauce but with vinegar and coleslaw or something. I had some a long time ago that was really delicious, but I don't eat meat anymore.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 13 March 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i just picked the puled chicken out and then tossed the rest. i am going to go get a slice of pizza.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 13 March 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm bored too. I'm going to lunch in 20 minutes, I'm going to walk up the street to Ukrops (grocery store) and eat there because my car is at the garage for an oil change. Until then, I'll refresh ILX every 30 seconds until something interesting happens.

CAT BOX CAKE
http://www.parentingsite.com/craft/cat_box_cake.jpg

Ingredients:

1 (18 oz.) box spice or German Chocolate Cake mix
1 (18 oz.) box white cake mix
1 pkg. white sandwich cookies
1 large box vanilla instant pudding mix
12 small Tootsie Rolls
1 litter box (preferably a NEW one!)
1 plastic scoop
green food coloring

Preparation: Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans).

Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble. Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in blender, they tend to stick, so scrape often.

Set aside all but about 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix using a fork or shake in a jar. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, mix with the cake and 'feel' it, you don't want it soggy, just moist; gently combine. Put mixture into clean litter box.

Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly.
Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in mixture. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top, this is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter.
Heat remaining Tootsie Rolls, three at a time in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs.

Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around. Serve with a new pooper scooper.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That part about using a NEW pooper scooper sounds pretty important.

(IS the poop haning over the edge entirely necessary for effect? Yeah)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

(haning=hanging obviously)

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 7 April 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

It has this great pulp cover image like its some 50s Hollywood blockbuster. I will scan it and post it. Tommorrow.
