I don't. At least, only from people who know me already but don't have my other email address. Do you? I know Ally gets threatening letters from incensed Nas fans, but what else? Anything interesting? Anything from non-posters?

I don't either: I think I've had about two which were direct replies to stuff I've said on IL* and both were boring.

A wild guess: women get private e-mails a lot more than men do.

I get loads of email, I am an email magnet. Most of it is derogatory and poorly written hate mail that seems more intended for Jay-Z or Madonna rather than me, but you get what you get.

I just got this today!!

Just a quick note to let you know that the First series of Pogles Wood... called only THE POGLES was shown only once by the Beeb.. but we have restored it from its rusty film can.. and will be issuing it on video and showing it in its hour long glort at the national Film theatre at the end of this month.

i got one off david quantick (the thinking man's stuart maconie) once, after wondering on ILM what he was up to. some dodgy internet sitcom and a show on xfm was the answer by the way, although did i dream that he, maconie and collins had a show on the edinburgh fringe or did it actually happen?

That's funny, Steve, because Quantick emailed me privately as well about my comments on the Select thread on ILM. He seemed quite sympathetic and interested / interesting. The Edinburgh Fringe thing went ahead: not that bothered.

David Quantick is a very nice man, that's probably been PBS already.

In answer to the question, I get them all the time, mostly because it's people coming to London or summat about strife on t'beeotches where people need to vent. Occasionally it's 'are you the Suzy who?' and I never am. No hate mail, ever. Never been spammed or scammed by TV researchers, though.

You must mean five parts-per-thousand, or 5% dry, or something like that. Straight-out 5% would be like one cockroach per restaurant-sized Heinz bottle.

(Not that I mind bug parts in food, or anything -- if the FDA says I'm not going to notice it and I'm not going to get sick, I'll take their word for it.)

two weeks pass...

I have got email from three desperately psychotic fellers, concerning stuff I wrote about Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson/Madonna, and the Replacements. It just seems so funny to me, what compels them to do that? It's not going to change my opinion, and I could not care less if someone else thinks that Janet "is the greatest artist of the past 20 years".
