I don't have a suitable receptacle for books in my bathroom, so having them in there would mean just having them sit by the loo, where they'd end up piss stained and vile. This happened to a friend of mine. I think he had book of Monty Python scripts and a copy of Jane Eyre.

I keep books in shelves, nick, not receptacles. Ans currently equals = Gary Giddins' (grate) Bing Crosby biog, Raging Bulls and Easy Riders, Communion by Whitley Streiber, the Oxford Book of Food, Teach Yrself Chinese, and England's Dreaming by J.Savage.

Synthesiser catalogues, and copies of "Sound on Sound" magazine, which I read in the bath.

I don't have any books, I have a cd player I put in there though. At the moment Marvin Gaye is in it, it's good shower music.

Various *funny* books e.g Colemanballs,Viz big thick one etc. Various football books e.g Simon Inglis -football grounds of Great Britain (2nd and 3rd edition), some footie fanzines and programmes (St johnstone v Berwick Rangers 1990 0-0). Some other odds and sods which don't belong anywhere else - Ivor Cutler, John Hegley, Kenneth Tynan, the book of sexual lists etc.

We have (courtesy of Pete) a stupid Bathroom Reader full of fascinating facts and little stories. Our flatmate clearly hates it and keeps putting it next to the shower so it gets ruined. I hate it too as it has a story about how Milky Ways were originally going to be called Emma bars but they over whipped the fluffy inside bit and decided to call them Fat Emma bars instead. I may have to accidentally drop it in the bath at some point. I would rather read the back of a conditioner bottle any day.

i used to keep all my bibles + books on serial killers in a bookcase in our old flat - here, nothing. but we keep the door open when we shit so we can talk anyway..unless it gets too stinky.

No reading material in bathroom, but if I feel the call while reading something I'll usually bring it along. This can sometimes put a new perspective on historical biographies of unpleasant characters.

In the bathroom I have a CD player. *NSync is currently in the playah. In the toilet I have several magazines and the Oxford Dictionary. My plan was to learn a new word each day. Sadly I am so stupid, I sit on the toilet for about three hours before I remember "doyen." Anyone know what it means? I forgot. Off to the loo I am. Tata. ;-)

A trivia encyclopedia from the early Eighties and a Kenneth Williams autobiography.

Nothing. I often have a problem with hogging the bathroom when I take in a book and don't want to put it down and get in the shower, though.

I finished Luis Bunuel's autobiography almost entirely in the bathroom recently. Lately I've been thumbing through Pauline Kael's For Keeps: 30 Years at the Movies. Was reading Knut Hamsun's Hunger for a bit, but quickly realized it's not a good "pick up and read two or three pages" book.
