Personally I'm a swallower because you get a better impression of the aftertaste which is important to the wine (or beer) taste. It does mean you can taste less in the day and your senses become dull but its far more fun.

Spitting out wine that you are tasting = ALCOHOL ABUSE!!!

I can understand if you are a "professional" or something, and you have a high volume to have to taste and remain unfuzzy. But if you're a casual enjoyer of wine, honestly, if it tastes that good, don't waste it!

My tasting experience has been limited to Stellenbosch (sp. kate) and in South Africa it appears very bad form to spit. I've never seen a spitton at an SA winery.

Me neither. I've also bought *more* bottles of wine at Stellenbosch wineries though "My gawd, this is the BESHT wine I've EVAH tashted! Yum!" than anywhere else, so maybe there is a method to their madness...

ha I spelt Stellenbosch correctly and spittoon incorrectly.

haha, just imagine how funny it is if you imagine all these people talking about wine were instead talking about...oh. OK.
