The debate so far (items displaced from iLm):
I dug the Wonder Years. I've been meaning to see Fox show Oliver Beene but haven't yet. How does it compare?

it's like that goddamn American Bandstand dramedy, but with a Fox EDGE!

I think you're looking for ILe.
But, for what it's worth, Oliver Beene doesn't really resemble The Wonder Years at all.

Is there a Winnie on Oliver Beane? Yeah, didn't think so.
Does the boy main character's brother call him "butthead?" Didn't think so.
Was this kid ever in a crazy rad video game-themed movie featuring an INTENSE Rad Racer race scene with the power glove and did it culminate in the exciting world premier of Super Mario 3 gameplay (with contestants kind of randomly deciding to duck down on this block in the first world for a few seconds to kind of randomly find the warp zone without any clues at all)? NO.

was anyone from Wonder Years in Royal Tennenbaums. didn't think so.
winnie cooper went to my college (as did urkel, sean astin and blossom). she was kinda nerdy in real life. she wore a t-shirt that said "I love Math" and even had a theorem named after her. this may or may not make you like her more?
the one episode of Oliver Beane i saw last night was pretty funny. they played with racial stereotypes. funny hearing the mom talk about Jive and cook a mixture of chitlins and matzah balls for the black family that ate at their place.

Wonder Years is one of my all time favorite shows. Oliver Beane is gay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i would respect it more if it was gay. it just sucks.

furthermore, i can almost hear david cross screaming in pain as his soul is slowly torn and raped from his body as he reads the narration for that show.

And there is another Lawrence brother on it. And let me tell you he is one ugly mother fucker with his bug eyes and weird lips.

Whatever, posuer. The warp zone shown in the movie was in the world 1 fortress where you had to fly in racoon-mario form to a secret room. And the error in the movie was that this somehow boosted his score by a tremendous amount when in fact, merely warping ahead would have got him no points and in fact been a total waste of time.
Best line in that movie - "keep your power glove off her!"

As for Oliver Beene - I saw a promo for it where they had the dad saying something to the effect of "Invest in IBM? Yeah right, like those computer things will ever catch on." (ha ha) when in fact back then IBM was a huge, powerful corporation that made many other things than just computers, and was considered a blue-chip company. Therefore, dud, with extreme prejudice.

david cross must really need the money.
can this thread be moved to ILE?
