Paul Morley's Matter of Fact - BBC4

Stumbled across a listing for this while browsing through the BBC4 tv guide. "In a country so obsessed with the past, where and what is the future? In this witty and provocative film writer Paul Morley travels back to his roots in the North West of England to find out."

Have any of the ILx telecide krew with access to space-telly seen this? Is it worth asking one of my digitally advanced pals to tape it for me? (Silly question - of course I will. But, you know.)

Is this the same Paul Morley that used to spout all that pretentious bollocks about rock music?

Haha - where is that "Delete ILX" button when you need it?

ah. I did miss the first 5-10 mins but i didn't tape it!

it was v funny but he was looking towards the future, not that worried abt the past so much (but i did miss a bit).

are they repeating this?

It's listed as being on Friday Saturday and Sunday - I presume repeats of the same show. Is it a series or one-off?

I think its a one off (he was just looking at manchester). BBC4 do tend to repeat things.

if you want it taped then fine.

I think the moment I laughed hardest was when he was in a lab at UMIST (talking abt semiconductors, which is kind of the area i do research in) and he said (with this v serious looking scientist standing beside him): 'The one time I came here was 20 years ago to see van der graaf generator!'.

It's a none-off. It will be repeated sporadically, depending on weather conditions in Cheadle.

I have a hunch this won't be played on BBC America.

Julio, did he mean that he had turned up in that lab to see a van der graaf generator, or he had gone to UMIST to see the rubbish old band (a big favourite of one of my best friends!)?

Anyway, I shall try to catch this over the weekend.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 4 April 2003 15:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

he said 'the band, van der graf generator'

trousers, i taped this if you haven't seen it. i also have Full Metal Challenge that you also said you hadn't seen. do you have a (non-mac) pc at home?
