Rotted, at this point.

I've always enjoyed the bit in "Orlando" when Orlando sees the skies darken with smog and a tower of knick knacks suddenly grow (at least this is how I remember it) at the beginning of the queen's reign. Surprised she wasn't bronzed after her death for placement on a dark wood mantleplace (a la Lenin).

If only we could pose her next to Lenin, in a sort of compromising fashion, and then take pictures.

add Prince Albert and Trotsky, we could make it the penultimate orgy

I thought this thread was going to be about the lovely pub at the Camber Sands Holiday Centre where ATP/Bowlie were. But alas.

famously not amused. (Emperess from 1868 (date is suspect))

Or the pub in Eastenders which is classic for being in Eastenders but dud as you aren't allowed to pick which brand of booze, you just have to say 'a bottle of beer' or 'a pint' and they decide for you.

Empress from 1875 as I remember - it was a crowd-pleaser by Disraeli to disguise the fact that his administration had run out of policies.

The Queen Vic at Camber Sands is an AWFUL pub. I don't know what people see in it. Too bright!

I think what people see in it is that it's the only pub at Camber Sands Holiday Centre! I quite like it in a funny sort of way; the way it's decorated like it's really old but it's only four years old or something like that and also the way you can walk through a door which looks as though it's going out onto the street but really goes into a corridor with bright blue walls full of people trying to decide between Yo La Tengo and Autechre.

I thought the entrance to hell was in Norway, not the south coast.

Tom, Friday, 7 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ha ha, hilarious.
