They made it look bigger in that picture than in the other picture on Chris's thread! Trick of perspective! Or has it been PHOTOSHOPPED!!! What's the date on that story, are you sure it's not an April Fool's?

kate, Friday, 4 April 2003 07:31 (twenty-two years ago)

no it's very for real. we're all gonna die.

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 4 April 2003 07:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, I'm totally confused. First it says: "A trawler caught the 150 kg, 330-pound squid in the sub-Antarctic Ross Sea." Then, later, it says: "The body of the colossal squid is much bigger than the giant squid, which can weigh up to 900 kg, 2,000 pounds when fully grown."

I'm not math professor, but 330 pounds is definitley NOT bigger than 2000. So what's the deal? Is the one they caught just a baby, or what?

Everyone knows seamonsters are long and snakelike, but fatter and with scales. And when you see them, it's just a bunch of humps basically.

And they only live in lakes/lochs, not actually in the sea.

I like how serious the scientists look.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

What was that action movie where this man and woman were in water and get attacked by sea monsters? (I Sort of imagine an Indiana Jones type)

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Speed 2?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how serious the scientists look.

The squid scientists have to be the most insane partiers - outdoing even the most alcoholic philosophers.
